84. Now just two World Cup wins shy of Stenmark. On top of her game, as much or more than any athlete in the world right now. Amazing.

That last run was something else. She made two mistakes I think(?) so she could have gone even faster. And didn’t she have the quickest time through the bottom section? So smooth.
I heart Sofia Goggia tho.

From 2014 when she was 18.
It's amazing she stayed healthy for so long.
I follow her closely….. what an amazing skier. As long as she stays healthy there is very high likelihood she’ll put this win record out of reach for several decades.

Hard to top a picture of her in full flight. (clipped from her instagram account)
Apparently she made the news in Austria by telling a reporter that she's extra tired due to her monthly cycle. Doesn't stop her from getting in the starting gate for 7-10 races in a row, across all alpine disciplines. Or from winning 1/3 on average ... or from celebrating her teammates' performances ...
With Mikaela in alpine, and Jessie in nordic, the US Ski Team has two generational talents who are lifting their respective teams to new levels.

Her mom grew up in my small town and used to babysit me, so I have that going for me. Shiffrin's a true phenomenon, and when her grandmother was alive she came back here every year and did meet-and-greets at the ski areas and ski shops.
Not to get away from Mikaela Shiffrin who will hang up her skis as one of the greatest (if not the greatest) skiier of all time, but I just can't get enough of photos of great skiiers going full bore in their prime. Here's one of Bode Miller:

She is back at the top of her game. Good for her!
