Default Genius Texas congressman solves climate change problem

Louie Gohmert is looking into changing the orbit of the earth and moon.
That should fix the climate problem.
Great idea Louie, about as good as all your other ideas.
    What an embarrassment he is!

AND, he has asked the US Forest Service to investigate this possibility.
    Of course, the obvious choice.

Far be it from me to defend this odious man, but he wasn't asking them to investigate. His was a rhetorical question stemming from the assertion that current observed changes to climate are not anthrogenic, but arising from subtle shifts to orbit patterns. It's wrong and he's an ass, but he wasn't asking if BLM and FS have options for mitigating climate change in this manner.

Sounds like someone read an old comic book. Physics was a long time ago for me, but setting aside the massive energy required to do it, I'm sure if you just change the orbit of one (ie moon), it will change the other, although maybe not enough. Now that I think of it, this would undoubtedly give rise to "the law of unintended consequences" and we'd end probably end up in some "wandering Earth" (Chinese movie) scenario.

Seem to recall a similar story from 8-10 years ago when the now in effect military build up on Guam was in the planning stages. It was said at the time, something to the effect of, too may Marines, Sailors, etc.,. would cause Guam to sink-and it was said by either a State/Territory lawmaker or a federal Senator/Representative.

I heard it suggested that this is actually an incredibly astute strategy for a Climate Denier, because after all the scientists go on the record as saying "That's ridiculous, there's no way we can alter the orbit of the Earth or Moon!" Gohmert now has carte blanche to shrug his shoulders and tell his constituents "See? Even the scientists say there's nothing we can do about climate change."

Astute and L. Dipchithair Gomert are not two words I'd ever use in a sentence yet you made your point.

I am founding a startup to accomplish this.. Anyone have Gohmert on speed dial? Maybe I can get $1b Gov Funding.... I'm like a defense contractor.
I'm confident with enough money, and if I can't, I'll still be rich...

Some may think I am a huckster, I think I am a visionary capitalist entrepreneur like Elon Musk... I hope he doesn't read this, he may steal my idea when he is bored with his hyperloop

This is correct, at least, as to his intent. So the display of stupidity wasn't in asking if the orbit could be changed, it was in his implication that the moon's orbit plays a role in climate change comparable to burning fossil fuels.

The basic stance of climate science deniers is to blame it all on things outside our control and deny any cause within our control.

Nah, he is too busy manipulating bitcoin on twitter to waste time with such trivial matters as changing the earth’s orbit.
