Incredibly impressive. Her solo chase speaks volumes.

    Thanks for posting

Lizzie Deignan pulled the chasing group the majority of time, while trying others to contribute more. If all riders (except van der Breggen of course) would have pulled more evenly it could have been different.
Lizzie Deignan deserved a podium spot, but if everyone knows you are the hometown rider, that wants the win, you are in trouble from the gun...

Really? That sounds like cycling presenter chatter. I can't imagine you saying that. Cycle racing isn't Montessori school.

Yep. Well put here, as well.

A tough day for Van der Breggen, I’d imagine. 105k of telling yourself not to defend your jersey.

Am I right to feel like she is the best rider with the least respect?

Well in tge first 30k she was probably the happiest woman in the world, getting a free ride and smiling internally especially as Vos wasn't in the same group.

    Then the desillusion began.

In a way that was a weird race.
Nobody except Deignan committing to the chase, the peloton not committing to the chase.
The dept difference or lack of a clear hierarchi in the teams being different between men and women peloton?
Agree none of the man would have ridden solo for even 30 K there?

I just have to say, every time I read the thread title here I'm reminded of that line from the beginning of the movie Molly's Game:

"I wanted to say to whoever answered that the worst thing that could happen in sports was 4th place at the Olympics - seriously, fuck you."
