And all I got was a hat. Well, the hat and gloves and some parts.

The hat is exciting it's a Walz and it actually fits my giant melon.

    It's still not a Zanc.

Been 18 months since the crash. Been riding an old Serotta that's a lil too big for me for too long. It's no bling-bling Zanc or IF but it'll be fun.

Picked up some odds and sods for a commuter bike today. Love my LBS. they help me through everything and generally price match online to keep me coming back.

    picked up

    -axiom roadrunner full length fenders
-a steel RD hanger to weld to this crappy frame
    -chain +loaner chain tool
-bar tape... sorry no urban camo
    -new cable inner and housing

I was able to chat my way into a pair of new 35c tires. either continental cyclocross speeds or clement x'plor ush's. either will be with a tube.

Presents for my wife. Shamals and 50/34. Dissatisfaction complaint re:mid-compact gearing was filed with the maintenance dept.

Wheels installed. My Torx wrenches seem to have gone missing though. Just can't get good help anymore.

Oh man, the new 4-bolt chainrings are so expensive on their own. Did you find some kind of deal on them? When I was pricing all of my Ultegra bits out, I found that it was just marginally less expensive to purchase a complete crank (and then flip the crank with the unwanted rings) than to get individual rings.

I'm guessing maintenance decided to continue showing initiative in their career instead of requesting she come back when the big ring is worn out.

    This thing showed up today.

Sometimes the situation requires a certain expediency over price, but I paid around $115 for the pair. Cheaper than the crank, and plus I wanted to save the mid-compact rings for when my wife starts doing EPO. And I hate selling reselling etc. so I avoid it as much as possible. Everything comes in handy eventually.

Now all built. Just need an 11 speed pin. Chain a bit long.

Embrace it. The fluo frame/laser-orange lenses go so well together, I wonder why they don't sell this combination by default in more models.

Got the pin, shortened the chain, and voila! I am a friggin' genius. Now she wants to ride before work.

BTW, if gold Shamals wouldn't have prevented the "ex" part, then you are OK. Any woman not smitten by a pair of Shamals is not worth it, gold or not.

Are those fins on the sides meant to give marginal gains?

That's good to know. I got this version just because that side flap was more atrociously Euro-trashy.

it has no place in here, but im happy to have a shitty bike to ride around that I don't feel bad thrashing every day.
All purchased parts for this I have bought in hopes of moving to an aluminum frame that I will build when I get a chance.

Saddle is temporary while I find one to use on my nice bike to get a rough stem fit. Brake cables were left long to be able to change them once the set I bought online come in. these calipers have backwards cables (cables are on the opposite of almost every other caliper brake ive seen). I was just impatient and want to ride it in the mean time.

11-34 with a compact crankset means I will have lots of range, even when im pulling the baby in her chariot.

What in the world is that stem?
