New chalk bag for my 10year old. Never been a team sport kinda girl, it's social on the mat then climb at your pace... she's loving it and taking to it like a fish to water. When a 10 year old girl says 'I'm proud of myself' -I'll take more of that please.

I'm enjoying the daddy daughter time, and the bouldering intermittently while watching her is kicking my ass. (First time in 10+ years).

Climbing is such a great activity for kids. Great mix of social and individual time and a real tangible reward for effort.

Big day in the Octave household..

    - 2 new bags from Fairweather

    - Wind jacket, LS mesh baselayer and trousers from Rapha

    - Sony RX100 vii camera, advised by Jared Gruber for a nice jersey-pocket camera for those great shots without having to lug a DSLR up 3,000 meters of climbing..

I'll be trying out all of these, save for the trousers, with a long, potentially rainy ride from Marseille to Nice in the morning.

Can not go wrong with advice from Gruber.

Just because this thread has generally boring photos:

Thanks. A friend already told me that. I planned to use ESI grips, cutting the right side to the appropriate length.

Everyone's favorite lube courtesy of everyone's favorite Canadian painter. VeloColour has some nice custom painted Silca pumps too, but I'm saving that for another day....

Two rolls of NFS tape – not that I'd need them, those things last forever (I switched bars, and only managed to reuse one side of the old tape).

Package was delivered really fast, maybe because the sample bottle of lube was leaking and spilled all over the box. NFS – it also makes the post faster.

    50/34 6800 rings - so I now have a full compliment of 6800 rings

looking forward to trying some hot 52/34 action later this year - the new arm FD seems like it'll handle that difference better than 10s-generation FDs, and having those two sizes will be nice, I'd prefer a 51/34, but that's just the trackie-gearing-nerd in me.

    Unreal.

PS - If anyone wants a ride, there's enough extra room on the hoods for you to grab a seat. :)

PPS - Photos do not capture the paint. It's even more awesome-er in person.

That bike is awesome. Please, please don't show more pictures of it. I really don't need another bike in my garage, which thankfully has plenty of room for more bikes.

    His work is unfreakingreal.

Edit: I just noticed the little thingie that holds the rear derailleur cable housing in place. That is sick! Why didn't anyone else ever do this before??!! Awesome!

Brakes were silent in my spin around the neighborhood! The bike has some killer little details. The cable/hose routing is super clean. He masked the edges of the polydrops so that the thin edge is stainless and the faces are pink. Great little touches.

Very nice. Too many logos on the wheels, detracts a bit from the awesome frame !
