    Default Weekend Rides January 7-9

Started out the weekend with a night ride. Having the right gear makes everything better. It was 20°F out, dark and snowy. But it was a good time.

Got outside three times this past week including a sweet woods ride. Today though, at -1 and a tight schedule, it was a quick inside ride with '04 Paris-R on the distract-o-screen.

Out for a couple hours this afternoon with my favorite riding partner, Ginny. Just a dusting of new snow over some crust and ice. Would have been nice to have the extra security of studs, she can't dial the phone but she's probably strong enough to drag me back to the trailhead. Out just at dark, we could have gone for another hour or two with lights.

Maybe your dog and my dog could uhhh...nevermind. Funny

Got out with young W.E. who I love to ride with at this time of yr. when his legs are trashed from lifting weights. I'm shallow that way ;) It was snowing a little when we left on CX bikes. Found a few dirt trails and I had a really nice wipe out and muddy slide almost all the way into rushing creek waters hahaha. After that bit of non-brilliance we hit mostly quiet roads and trails for about 3 hrs. Man, I'm going to be sore, Feels good.

Couple hours out and about. Still old fat and slow. Can't climb worth a damn. Folks looked as though they were having fun surfing.

wet snow and wind ruined my afternoon riding plans so I settled for an hour in the carport with no shirt on. Turned a near roller wreck into the dismount. finished up by taking the old man out for his 78th birthday dinner. I'll get out tomorrow

First group ride of the year - OLH to Kings and out and back Canada. Blew myself up chasing the main group out on Canada. Foggy with glimpses of blue up along Skyline.

Why is it that I go skiing in -10F weather with a -30F wind chill, then come back and still feel equally cold at 40-50F?

Nothing so far this weekend. Snowboarding Friday, 14km snowshoeing yesterday with baby then traded lift tickets with my wife and got in some runs... Maybe I'll give the legs something to do on the bike tomorrow.

50 miles, Ventura-Santa Paula-Ojai-Ventura. It was so nice to be on the bike and not stuck in New York City. Hoping for another 50 miles or so this morning.

1.5 hrs in cold, wet, windy conditions. Was just nice to be outside for a change after the snow and very cold wx we've been having. Rode the HampMoots for the 1st time in a long while, what a comfy ride, love that bike. Pics are from last winter, but things don't change much around here.
Loving my Showers Pass jacket and Roadie tights. Stuff is not cheap, but it rocks!

You guys riding in the snow at night rock.

Me....many hours inside on the eMotions + core work. Good for fitness but one can only do so many stupid roller tricks for the wife's amusement before the brain becomes mush.

    Corko,
Glad to bring back the memories! I will be retiring from the AF this summer and am already dreading the prospect of leaving. In spite of all of its flat, muddiness I really do love it over here. The pic in question is what I call a "Belgian toothpaste factory" and yes, it does makes one's ride aromatic.

Wow Shawn. Nice pics. Wish I was suffering THAT with you.

Got out for a frickin-freezing cold ride with young Brent. My MO these days is to stay on quiet but well traveled roads and find lots and lots of hills to ride slowly. It felt like 50 miles for me by the end and prob. drained the hot water heater warming up. Curiously, these rides are some of my favorites. The new training season is "ON" baby it is ON ON ON. My vow is to be hardr' than a MoFo for Spring Training Camp. T.K. is not going to take me on the steep climbs this yr. THE DOG ;)

Skipped yesterday and played in the (meager) snow with the dog.

2 hours today, about half of that with a buddy.

Cold as nuts. Almost got blown into the Potomac out by the airport.

No ride yesterday but I got my daily exercise in from digging out from another snowstorm. Took the mountain bike out today, hoping to ride in the woods, but ended up playing it safe on the pavement and gravel roads--- the trails were a very slippery, slushy, unpredictable mess (even with Nokian studs). Beats sitting on the trainer any day though.
