Agree re: interest in GPS for MTB. Seems like inability to explore the map to see trails ahead (if trails can be seen on the wahoo) would be a strike. What else is there for MTB? Garmin seems controversial in every model range. Wahoo sounds solid but needing to look at a map freely without having to forego on the fly trail changes and exploring uploaded GPS files sounds tough.

It's really easy to use and makes total sense for such an application. "Here are 5 options. Pick the distance you want and just follow the line. While you finish zipping up your jersey, I'll synch it to your phone for you and have your live tracking link sent to your SO."

Anyone with the Bolt having problems using it with maps created on RideWithGPS?

Every time I go into that section of the app on my iPhone, it insists on updating, causing it to download the 40+ routes I have in RWGPS each time. It's a slog, and likely a battery drain on my phone as well.

Thanks for the reviews. This is very encouraging about the Bolt. Easy to set up and use, good battery life, etc. How is it for accuracy? Speed correct? Altitude correct? The basics are important to me.

I just have 5 maps, so I haven't really noticed any issues. There must be a setting somewhere that allows limiting the number of maps the Bolt will load? Might be worth sending a message to Wahoo Support and seeing what they say.

I figure these things are all relative. I might not be going 5mph, but I am going closer to 5mph than 7mph. That sort of thing.

But DC Rainmaker does exhaustive tests on accuracy usually. The reviews are long, but everything is in there. Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT In-Depth Review | DC Rainmaker

Thanks. I noticed at one point yesterday my Cateye went from 19 to 22 to 24 to 20 in the space of about 20 seconds. Of course, I only pay attention to the highest number.

I have just sent a ticket to Wahoo regarding the possibility of loading custom maps in a Bolt.
OTH, this Android-based Hammerhead looks promising.

    Bad news for now:
    HI Luis,

I am sorry but at this time that is not possible. Our developers are looking at adding that as a feature in the future. They have this slated for development towards the end of this year. If you have any other questions or feedback please let us know.

    Thank you,

    Kyle

The Wahoo devices are Android based. I spoke to a geek last fall who said it is not that hard to hack them if one is so inclined. I am not inclined nor capable.

Bought an 820 about a week before the Bolt was released and while I haven't had any major issues with it, I'm sorted of tempted to flip it and get the Bolt. The touch screen is just infuriating.

Hey Jorn, that was more in reference to the Wahoo app on the iPhone. (Sorry if that wasn't clear.) The Elemnt Bolt itself is fine with RWGPS syncing over Wifi as far as my experience goes.

As an side, I really wish there was a way to plan complex routes from my iPhone or tablet, and send it to the unit.

I see now. I've been monkeying with it all week now. I understand now why everyone is importing Ride w/GPS files instead of Strava too. I sent all my Strava routes over to RWGPS and rejiggered them so they would have turn-by-turn.

Seriously why can't we do this?? Anyone know of any workarounds?
