Default The Vuelta is On! (SPOILERS)

Team Trial starts it and then the rest appear to be mountain stages. Or nearly. Should be great! Review the rosters on Steephill and make the predictions you will disavow when the final stages arrive.

Eurosport has rejiggered their coverage, and the picture is pretty incredible on my computer. Hope that holds up throughout.

There may not be spoilers yet, but there will be, so I added it to the title.

I really enjoy team time trials.

Lots of gravity involved in this edition. Seemed like there were a couple tricky corners that snagged a number of riders.

    I love the Vuelta.

No predictions for me, only hope that Sky does not dominate a la TDF.

Just mentioned on Eurosport - too much front brake at exactly the wrong moment.

Nicely done by Quick-Step at the end of a nervous stage.

Agreed, didn't have the manpower to hold the split but used their numbers to force others to make snap decisions at the end and the gamble paid off.

Fun to watch, considering the completely flat stage. Must have been unpleasant to race.

It's especially funny as Lampaert was supposed to lead Trentin, got a gap then hammered. Exactly what Postleberger did at the stage 1 of the Giro.

I know it is supposed to be a joke but they are especially terrible in modulation. Those behind the fork v-brakes on some aero/ttbikes are pretty much on-off and the brake routing do not really help.

I always just look for a feed of the parent network. I'm watching a pretty good eurosport feed on cricfree, not sure if links allowed.

I'm using a paid VPN and have a paid Eurosport subscription. You can however, try the built in VPN in the Opera browser to watch the feeds available from other broadcasters. steephill.tv usually has links to legit broadcasters and what their geo-restrictions are.

If there is an iPad or AppleTV at e-RICHIE Central Command, the NBC Sports Gold app can be installed on either or both and the feed is good. Just need a few $$ for the log-in. They were using the off-duty Eurosport announcers for most of the stage. Not sure if you can totally avoid Paul and Phil yet.

I got the NBC Sports Gold thing too. It can also be watched on a laptop. No Phil and Paul that I heard when I watched a bit of today's stage.

NBC Sports Gold Has Baden Cooke and Matthew Keenan- Maybe not as good as Robbie McEwan, but way better than Phil and Paul.
Baden Cooke is a former pro tour rider and current agent for riders.
Like McEwan he knows the riders, situations, etc..
This makes for more insightful commentary.
Sharp contrast to Phil Liggett who needs it written on a cue card to get it right.
