Your bike ride got someone tired out, if only vicariously.

No pics but here's how it went. Wake up to the alarm at 4:15 like every day. Think seriously about sleeping in but am hell bent on a ride today because of recent history and the simple joy of a good hot cup of black coffee beckons. Sit drinking looking out the front window into the rain thinking I'll go out in the afternoon when its warmer and I have more energy. I realize that never happens, gear up and head out. A little underdressed my hands hurt and I feel my core losing heat. I seriously consider peeling back but I know tomorrow work starts at 6 and is too chopped up with meetings so today is my chance. Keep going. Two hours later I return home wishing I could stay out all day.

Based on having steady rain for the past three days, I grabbed the fender bike when the sun popped out, thinking that the roads were wet. Nope...nothing but nice and with a freshly glued Pave on the rear wheel, I was groovin’.

It isn't raining! After a week of steady rain we're still somewhere between 15-20 percent below average for the year but I'll celebrate this. Another couple hours of noodling.

Starting to see some green again in the Green Mountain State. Long time coming, but once it starts, things just explode.

I got around some this past week

    The western branch office?

The mighty Pecos River. A lot of western history played out over this ribbon of silver cutting through the New Mexican desert.

Those photos of New Mexico are fantastic. Now I get why my brother in Albuquerque recently bought a really nice SLR camera.

Started out chilly and damp and pretty much stayed that way for a couple of hours until we stopped for a coffee at my riding bud’s house, which since the pandemic, we now call Cafe Jef. Then on the last 7 miles home, all hell broke loose for 15-20 minutes with rain, wind and graupel, which thank goodness gave way to sun and some wonderful Spring colors. Happy Mother’s Day weekend!

My girlfriend went down to Connecticut yesterday on a birding excursion (Global Big Day!) So I went down to Lakeville with her and rode back from there. It came to about 75 miles with a fair amount of climbing.

Came up the Harlem Valley Rail Trail,

Jogged west a bit, then north on National Scenic Beauty Award Highway 11 and a variety of local and county roads,

Stopped for lunch at Beebe Hill State Forest, where I really need to bring my mountain bike,

    Enjoyed scenery and drizzle, mixed,

And got myself home somewhat the worse for wear. Good ride on mostly unfamiliar terrain.

I recognize those places. Looks like a nice long ride, especially if you went west to 11 and then back east to Beebe. What was the total mileage?

Right around 75 miles. Looked like this:https://ridewithgps.com/routes/35962761 I kept an eye out for a lean guy on a Gios or a Weigle, but no such luck.

I was going to guess 70 miles. You went west of both Pete and I. I can draw up a greatest hits route for you next time you have to ride your way back home.
