Up to the cottage from the city. Another 30, this time through the cycleway along the old P'Tit Train du Nord trail out and back to the end of St Faustin-Lac-Carre.

A lot of stone involved here...

And like in the city, Quebec has art scattered all about the province. This is on the side of a parking lot in Mont Tremblant. Oddly, this was done by an American artist and the picture doesn't do it justice because it is at the end of a twisting garden which is part of the installation called Les Marches du Temps...

On a culinary note...the fries are incredible in Quebec. Perhaps because they are done with the skin on. I have heard, but don't know for a fact, that they only cook them in peanut oil and add a dollop of duck fat to the oil. And a salmon club is great...substitute thin sliced red onions in very light mayo for the bacon and smoked salmon for the turkey. To die for. I would have never thought losing the bacon could be good until this...

Lovely ride and bizarre because even though it is 80+ degrees, there is still some snow visible on the ski trails and along the cycleway.

I rode 80 miles today in 90+ degree heat and high humidity. The big mistake I made was not having enough money with me to buy more than one drink. I got home and was very dizzy, nauseous, and dehydrated. Pretty sure I was flirting with heat stroke. As soon as I got in I immediately jumped into a cool shower and drank a ton of water, and started to feel better after about 30 minutes. Pretty stupid mistake, though. I'm sharing this embarrassing story to show my friends on this forum that it's easy to screw-up in a major way if you're not paying attention, just pushing yourself through the miles. So please be careful out there and dont have an event like mine.

No pictures because I ride the same roads. But an anecdote: I heard a splash as I rode along a gravel road, and turned expecting to see a frog in the small pond, but no, a chipmunk paddling for all it was worth. Did not hear me coming. I apologized.

I had to work during the day, but got out for a dinner time ride which was pretty fantastic.

I did an uninspiring 20 mile ride after work/dinner yesterday evening. Was riding along a quiet country road on very smooth pavement and suddenly heard a loud bang, stopped and figured out a flat spoke had broken on the rear wheel. Strange because I don't weigh much and wasnt stressing the bike at the time. OTOH I did buy the wheels a couple of months ago used on CL, and since they were true, just put them on the bike. This morning I'll be pulling the tire and tube off (sigh) so I can swap out the spoke and true the wheel.

    A little rerouting was necessary.

Thanks Mark! This is Kane Creek in Moab, UT. It is not the best riding trail, but it is scenic so it more then makes up for it.

My son and I are headed to Moab in a few weeks to ride. What are your favorite trails?

That sounds like a cool trip.

My favorite trail is Navajo Rocks. It is the flowiest trail in Moab, lots of fun rocks that can be done by mortals. It is a two loops so you can bail if the heat gets to you.

Next is the Amasa back trails, Do a loop of Hymasa on the way up and either go back down it, or try Capt Ahab, which is a hard downhill but you can walk some if you need to.

Mag 7 is great, most people shuttle it. But I just do a loop of Bull Run and Getaway.

Shuttling the whole enchilada is a big day and a long ride. But people love it.

The Bar M/ Moab Brand trails are fun and have something for everyone.

All of the shops sell maps for $2 each of the trail systems.

If you get here and have questions just let me know!

    Cheers,
    -Joe

Started today's dawn patrol on the black bike. Exchanged it part way through due to some saddle issues. Getting the blue bike dialed-in fit wise, as usually happens, its setup is converging on the same numbers as the black bike. I guess "road" and "gravel" don't want different stacks and reaches, at least in my book.

I did 20 fast miles in the pouring rain as once again the local forecasters got the weather wrong. Why do I even listent to them?! Great ride though from a workout POV. In my futile attempts to beat the rain I was really laying it down on the climbs.

I did a minor tweak on my back last night feeding the ducks, and didn't sleep well. Uncomfortable all morning. I swapped the chainring (+1T) on the SS MTB early this morning, and took it out for my normal lunchtime ride. No back issues, and in fact the ride seems to have done a major reset on whatever the problem was... We'll see how it holds. This Sunday is one of the gravel rides I host, so it would be nice to not be battling low back pains.

Finally got a ride in yesterday and did 48 miles of dirt and pavement split about 40:60 & 3500' of climbing. The Hillsdale town crew is re-graveling the dirt roads with these 3/4" rocks (not gravel) and not rolling it at all, just spreading it with a grader, so it has made some really nice roads impossible for skinny tires. But I beat them to Texas Hill Road, which basically goes up to a nice ridge with lots of birds and then up again to an opening in the woods where you can just barely make out Albany in the distance. And then it goes down again....
