Word has it these boxes with some type of communication devices tucked in them used to be sprinkled all over the land.

Passed by this little go-cart (it was parked).

Rode up a forest service road to Windy Ridge on Mt. St. Helens.
The road was in much worse condition than a couple years back.
Some steep up and down bike carrying was required, but worth the effort.

More up and down hills in my other country. Crazy hot but the leaves are beginning to turn on the ski hill...

Beautiful fun ride with periods of pain on some of the hills because I was really pushing myself...until my mind was forced to wander (but that goes in the Auto thread).

I don't generally celebrate birthdays - no interest, but I did go to Dennys with my wife on the 11th. I rode later that day to burn off some of those carbs too, as I dont eat like that normally, lol. I have to hand it to Dennys though - their free Grand Slam on your birthday is something I look forward to every year. :)

Oh and my wife and I have been out on a few rides lately too, still getting used to the new area we moved to a few weeks ago.

I was planning to ride this morning, but I find the first five days after the weekend really challenging to get up. I am hoping tomorrow will be easier.

I rode my MTB for the first time in weeks (months?) on wednesday.

Looks like everything was falling appart. Dropper post cable gave up the first time I tried to use it, derailleur hanger screws came loose but I only figured it out at the end of the ride and thought the whole time that my cassette was dead.

    Working from home today.
Hammered for 35 mins, had a coffee, and rolled home slowly.

I've been trying to work a little harder on my morning rides and recover on the evening rides home. To that end, I have been bungy-ing my iphone to my stem and keeping an eye on my HR, working in some intervals. Kludgy for sure, but I think I'm going to pick up a Suunto watch (that I can also run with), and a Stages for the XTR crank once I get my 333Fab built up and confirm I have chainstay clearance.

Took the day to go check out some trails I had not been on before. 20 miles to get to them that meant:
    - Road bike (check)
    - Road pedals/cleats/shoes (check)
    - Road tires ...well 28mm Gravel Kings but with 80 psi in them
    - Real NE mtb terrain (check)

56 miles ~10 of which is the woods pics below. Slow going but fun.

Had to dismount in a couple of places but the road pedal/clear set-up keep the dabs down. The tires and pressure keep you sharp.

That looks challenging to my eye. I have a white Spectrum as well, but a much smaller version.

I like this time of year, not hot or humid, the day could be a little longer but I'll take the tradeoff. During the National Bike Challenge, I like to average 30 miles a day and I'm on pace this week at 150. Two more weeks of NBC. I'm umpiring yute baseball tomorrow afternoon but I'll get out for 30 in the morning. Next week I'm in Stillwater, OK recruiting at OSU Monday to Wednesday. Next Saturday I plan on doing the Lockhart Breaker (TX) gravel grinder and the weekend after do the grinder in Muenster, TX. I'm going to dirty up that new Coconino.
