It's amazing how nimble and fun this bicycle is to ride even when I'm out of shape.

we had c 10cms of snow overnight in Tyrol, then it cleared up and the sun came out. so the roads were mainly clear, apart from the shady bits which were tricky. I managed an hour's bracing MTB ride, which included a visit to the recycling centre, (you don't need photos of that) so a mainly practical ride rather than a recreational one. But winter is about to come back for a few days so it was good to get out.

    650b...

As set up compared to my I9's with carbon rims, nice comfy ride, awesome on downhills, bumpy and shitty pavement. BB dropped a couple mm's so a bit more stable. Aqueduct is still a muddy, icy, snowy mess, so haven't really hit the dirt with them yet. Can feel the weight of the heavier wheels on climbs. All kinds of factors could change this, including different tires (47mm Byways on there now). Bike gained a couple pounds with the different wheel, dynamo, etc. Probably going to be a November- May (following the Farmer's Daughter ride) then switch to 700C with either 38's (which I have) or 35's vs. the 43's I have on there now.

my road bike is being built and too much slushy snow for the trails so...

not quite full gas, but pretty hard for me...can't wrap my head around the WR for my age group of 17 min

great complement to riding as it is more upper body focused

Riding Mountain Dr(intersects Gibraltar RD) above Santa Barbara, different kind of house(artist owned, designed, locally known as the Bookhouse) and cool bike sculptures. Both mailboxes serve the same parcel/owner. If you're ever in SB a Mtn. Dr ride is a must do imo.

    Guido...what's in a name?

Talked to this guy yesterday whilst riding, him on a 1980's Panasonic, no handlebar tape, sneakers, flat pedals.

He asked me about the "mountain bike" I was out riding.

Then he took off like a rocket.

First proper ride in 2 months mixing road and muddy single tracks. I am slow but had so much fun I didn't want to stop to take any pictures. I took picture of the dirty bike this morning while going to work :

That chain hasn't seen a rag since I got the bike 3 months ago. Ouch. I think I should just replace it and start applying best practices on a new one.

When Fat Studs are finally appreciated....

Incredible base, mix of hard ice and crunchy hero snow. Good stuff is going to disapear quickly with the warm temps coming but the early morning ice show will continue through the end of March.

Still kind of monochrome, but got to 58F. The local ground hog showed up looking a bit skinnier than last fall when he disappeared.
