Afterwork gravel ride. Around 2h30. The 1:1 ratio wasn't low enough to climb some of the steepest parts and I had to push the bike 3 times. I would have really needed an MTB ratio.

Also, 1 water bottle was not enough, I came home completely dehydrated. I should have used the confinement to strip the frame and paint it with some spray.bike can. I am not too fond of that orange/red mix.

Got distracted by chores and such this morning, so I didn't make it out before it hit 88. Ouch...

Excellent two days. Half an hour down the road yesterday work calls. Big big emergency and they can't raise either the primary or the secondary on call. By the time I get home everybody's signed in and on the issues. Which were only slightly blown out of proportion. Grump. Then this morning was over almost before it started. I'm passing some construction, swing over to be polite and let a car pass, rip the sidewall on some small debris. A fountain of sealant out a three quarter of an inch long tear and I shouldered the bike back home a mile and a half.

At least the sun is out and it's extremely hot or getting a new tire on would be a struggle. The old one was pretty worn so I decided to bin it. Sat the new tire in the sun for a couple of hours and almost got it rolled on the bead without levers.

Temp number sounded high, but the breeze and humidity break made it an A+ day.

So, I brought the A+ bike out to play.

East coast main line between London and Edinburgh. Maybe it is because most have been there a long time but I feel that railway lines are absorbed into the landscape much better than major roads.

I think you probably had a Hornby Model Railroad set as a child and are just subconsciously partial to trains. I know I am .

On Mtn Dr again, sheep for fire safety brush clearing, I've seen goats up here before doing the same thing but 1st time for sheep(a lot more sheep than seen here), the landowner pays to have the sheep brought in for the clearing, the sheep owner makes a some $ and free feed. Been here a couple of weeks, an area is temporarily fenced off(see small white stakes/fence inside the chain link), cleared and then relocated. Similar procedure to bee hives that landowners pay to locate on their property for crop pollination. This is the 2nd day the sheep were close enough to the road to get a meaningful pic.

This may look like your typical friendly dog but believe me no friggin way, should've got a pic with him snarling with canines exposed or charging down the hill towards me. Big dog, doesn't seem like it in pic but I'm guessing 125+lbs. Mostly for coyote protection but......

Cuyama Lamb LLC (Cuyama is about 60 miles north east from SB as the crow flies)advertising fresh lamb at a later date.

Ha, that's cool. I know solar array project owners do the same thing, hire out sheep and goats to keep the weeds and brush down. guys with weed eaters and other equipment can damage the panels, but goats are gentler. First time i heard of that, i thought it was a joke, but it's actually a great idea!

4 of the 5 Boros ride.

If I ever had a garage, I would find somebody talented to do this....

You can tell summer arrived in the Bay Area by the dipping temps and the abundant fog

Nice spin up to one of my favorite spots tonight. As i get more acquainted with this bike, i like it more and more. with the steel fork, it is quite a refined ride.

East Middle Patent Rd. Possibly the only road in Westchester County that’s in decent shape. The rest of them are fucking terrible. Pot holes, shitty patch jobs, etc.

I had to take 8 psi out of my tires when I crossed the border.

Not in about 3-6 years. I still think about that every time I ride on that road!

I found the only stretch of smooth pavement in Pittsburgh

And I finally swapped to a bar end junction box on my 'A' bike. The front-end looks so much cleaner!

I don't know TK, I routinely encounter at least 1/8 mile of smooth roads on every ride...coupled with the 90% humidity early yesterday morning, I was questioning my timing.

51 miler, mostly on the local trail network known as the Illinois Prairie Path and the Fox River Trail. Too many road crossings but given the mediocre nature of Chicagoland cycling I guess I'll take it. Satisfying ride overall. If any locals want to join up and show me more stuff PM me.

    Season high daily mileage total.
