Nice ride with my SO, then I went off alone and climbed a couple of hills...

After living in England for a few years, I thought I might learn to like the rain. Wrong....
After a consistently wet butt all spring followed by the month of June annual rainfall in past 2 days, I am beginning to see the logic of rowing.

Two hours fully covered and when I got home I made oatmeal for breakfast to warm up. June.

One deer, one turtle and one large poplar tree fallen across the path. Couldn't go around it so I had to go through and under it. I told the bike that if I heard cracking, it was on its own. "I love you, but if only one of us gets out of here it's gonna be me."

We've had an abnormally wet spring in New England as well this year. Finally picked up an ass saver for my roadie. Can't believe it's taken me this long to use these. Absolutely amazing for, well, keeping your ass dry. Won't exactly keep you dry in a downpour, but it's perfect for those post-rainshower roads

    Ok bitches
Back on the bike exactly *once* after a 1.5-2 year fallow period.
I have the muscle tone of an infant
I have the pacing judgment of a toddler
I have the enthusiasm of a teenager
And the sexual prowess of an orangutan in heat but that is a different matter.

Justin B sold me a Mosaic Ti gravel grinder and I took it out in Vermont. Pro tip: up here in the Deerfield Valley of VT there is no big ring big enough and there is no small ring small enough.

I am psyched to be back on the bike. Pics forthcoming.

Since you are on VT 100, you have one week to get in shape for :
    200 on 100 Bicycle Ride

As for the orangutan thingy, rumor is ASSOS Chamois cream is using palm oil. It has known side effects.

    Welcome Back ...

Why thank you douglas! Doubtful I spend 200 miles on a badly maintained VT highway BUT I did dabble admittedly in the stretch from downtown Wilmington to my turn on higley hill. Only passed by like three logging trucks.

But man what a pleasure having my ass kicked by those grades.

Oh also, riding a bike designed for dirt roads on a dirt road is a revelation. Good float, soft pressures, no flats. FINALLY THIS IS CORRECT

The tougher the climb, the better the view on top. And yes, summer has arrived here.

A storm whipped up this afternoon and put an end to my idea of a midday ride, so I went out after work and took the Stumpy for a ride on the Riverfront Trail, known to locals as the “Jail Trail”...note the stone wall in one of the pics. Very windy and the temps dropped at least 20 degrees, so I only crossed paths with a 1/2 dozen cyclists, a handful of runners and one older gentlemen walking his dog, while drinking a can of Natty Light and belching. Both he, his dog and myself were very happy and we exchanged pleasantries.

About the time I start surfing recruiter web sites hard I get another dose of perspective. Being able to go out and ride around for a couple of hours before work isn't the worst way you can start your day.

Second day out on the Mosaic in the wilds of the deerfield valley. Getting used to twice the tire, half the pressure.

I can imagine everyone’s interest in my journey back from being a fat lazy shit, so I will just report this: my hour and change day two fucking sucked. bikes are hard. But nature is awesome and I can feel my legs in there somewhere.

Good after work ride. It was only in the low 90's this afternoon so I took advantage of it. I've done a lot of tweaks on my setup on the new bike and today was the best ride so far. I ride on BLM routes up the hill from my neighborhood. They're double track with large rocks and washes. The 29X2.5" tires roll well on the loose stuff although I lose the rear end every once in a while on the off camber stuff. Obviously it's dry. Steve did a great job on the wheels, WTB I29 rims with Hope boost hubs and WTB Vigilante tires. Perfect for the desert.

The cow picture, momma cow and I had a stare down until she and her calves moseyed along. Much of BLM is free range grazing.

No pics sorry but a few of us have been getting back into it after the ski season in Tyrol, we do 0700 to 0900 ish, road, gravel, some gnarly bits, very hilly, I cannot wait to spec the finishing kit on my Kirk Rugged Road Bike which is at JB, (will be Molteni orange, a fast colour) I think it will be able to do most of our routes which we do on MTBs, I am reasonably light and am looking forward to going faster downhill.

I didnít think that Iíd de donning arm warmers and a vest for some time, but this wave of weather is playing games with me. Drizzle off and on for most of the ride but not worth bailing and the lack of fenders on this bike seemed to be no big deal today. Apres ride cappuccino on the patio and now for some work prepping our master bath for paint. Did I mention that I hate painting?
