Default Velocipede Salon Member Ride Reports - 6/1 - 6/7

    The Berkshires.

One of the best routes I’ve ever created. Three cars passed me in 70 miles.

Café RW has been the default après ride coffee shop since this pandemic took charge and the café's fountain developed a leak, which was very frustrating to the proprietor's spouse. JB Weld saved the day and now the patrons can enjoy the full, garden experience.

Man, all of a sudden in NJ - HOT. The heat and humidity came in today like a freight train. Summer is looming, for sure.

Anyway, lovely post work ride tonight to shake the legs out. Tomorrow is Friday already. Lots of weekend miles in the plans. Get out there folks!

Did four miles on the Concord River in the new boat on a stupidly hot and windy afternoon. Such a delight to paddle. Played tag with a great blue heron. Need to come up with a water poof camera for these games...

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Got in some Friday Gravel Goodness in New Paltz yesterday. One non-Vsaloner and I got the guided tour from Riceburner.

It was an iced latte kind of morning and only got better throughout the course of the day.

It was windy af today (but not as bad as yesterday), so decided to try and not climb as much, to keep things reasonable. I failed in that: ended up climbing just as much, only over double the distance.

For those of you in the Bay Area, head to Hawk Hill or Lands End, and listen to the wind through the new installed GGB slats. I was just standing there for half an hour mesmerized by the bridge's new drone. Go and do the same before the spoilsports make a ruckus and get it removed. I've been to some amazing, semi-mythological aural performances, and none top this one. I am ready to declare the GGB new drone the best public arts work in NorCal.

I don't miss the office, but I really miss the small group we had commuting on this route bi-weekly.

I try and do a 100k ride each month, wanted to get it done this weekend because next weekend I'm moving.

After that, there's gonna be a lot of climbing in my future, like it or not.

That's to be expected when you buy a house in a town AND on a road with "Hill" in the name.

I left at 5:00 am, was already light outside.

    Incredibly humid.
