A New England classic! Mt Riga/Washington.

Perfect day on the bike. Cool enough to not overheat. Riga is the perfect tempo climb. Never too steep but reasonably long. find the right gear, get in a rhythm and turn the crank. Dirt surface was in nice shape. this ride is perfectly suited to a 32c tire.

i was missing the mid ride pizza stop and post ride beer, but what are you gonna do? damn you corona.

But if you grow a pony tail and start walking along Hickory Kingdom in flip-flops, I will ask Justin to arrange a Vsalon intervention.

Spent my Memorial Day exploring my new neighborhood before finishing moving in. Wanted to get in 30+ miles for the day, and figured a trip over to the bike's namesake would be a perfect ride.

Good to see you today Doug! Is my beard better or worse in person? :)

Overtaken by three people this morning who were riding about a foot or so off each other, they invited me to tack on but I declined. I was a jerk, however, sat about thirty feet behind them for the next 5-6 miles or so until we went our separate ways. It wasn't easy to keep a poker face, they were quick. I could see the thought bubbles, though. "Who is that old geezer back there?"

Deadly -- but Shy. The venom of timber rattlesnakes is so potent that it can kill a human.

That's what I was wondering. When I lived in the Catskills, I never saw one. I had heard they were prevalent in some very isolated areas (esp. mountainsides) but not generally a threat.

Are they more common in western Mass and CT?

No idea. I sent that picture to a friend and he said “you should probably leave, that snake can kill you!”
