Are latex tubes worth the cost? Why?

if the quality control is better than today's butyl, then they're worth it. been seeing a lot of bad-out-of-the-box china tubes. which sucks when you thought you had a good tube in the bag.

Ummmm...natural gut, thanks. Of course, I guess not wearing a condom is pretty much slipping on some "natural gut," too.

To me they are not worth it.

I'm a fan of Michelin Ultralight butyl, light but not stupid light and quite puncture-proof (Maybe one flat in almost a year, very good to me).

I tried Michelin green latex tubes and
    1) pumping up every few rides is annoying to me
    2) First flat after 5 rides, plus makes me nervous of overheating when there are long twisty descents.

I didn't feel a difference in ride quality with the same tires and pressure, however maybe someone can.

Supposedly, they ride nice. However, they do lose air quickly, and they have more rolling resistance, according to the BQ tests. What do you want from a tube?

i like the Michelin green latex. i refuse to comment about flats as not to jinx myself. After years of running Stan's on the MT bike, pre-ride air pressure check is routine.

    cheers,
