    Default A trip to Zank's

I was fortunate to spend 3 days with Mike Zanconato in his shop leading up to d2r2. I've given some insights from the trip on my smoked out page. Check it out if you're so incined.

I spent couple hours a couple years ago. Journey was the destination. And vice versa. Drove from DC-Baltimore-Philadelphia-Newark-New York-Westchester County-Bridgeport-Hartford-Zank's Place. Helluva drive. Brain dead when I arrived. Measured. Chatted. Rode back and forth on my Look 381 for him to see. BSd. Told lies and started rumors. Then I took off. Drove to Utica, NY that evening via western MA. I hope I can ride there before I'm done with this stuff.

The result is in the Zank thread in the bike section.

nothing better for framebuilding than taking a tour of another framebuilder's shop. I visited John Upcraft's shop a couple of months ago, and my head is still spinning from everything I learned.

Hey, I know John! Met him at Wooster at Rody's race series finale--hell, shared a tent. Matter o/f he sent me a "Hubcab" t-shirt at NAHBS last.

I go out of my way any time i can to visit another builder's place.

damn tickets to brisbane are _so_ pricey.

yeah yeah, zank rocks! (because rebecca lets him).

    That's a great report, Jonathan.

I've had the pleasure of several visits to Zanconato Custom Cycles now. The first to be fitted, the second to watch/"help" Zank build my gorgeous new bike, and the third to go for a ride and stuff. Every visit has made me look forward to the next.
    GO!

I know John lurks here. Hey John, ask for the admins to send you your password!

One thing that is obvious about John is that he's too dedicated to his students to get too busy building frames. But I'd like to see him post here.
