    Default Thinking Zinc

It's right there next to Fe and Ti on the Periodic Table. It must make for a good frame material. Who's building with it? Does it take paint well?

Well, it does develop a nice patina over time.

I didn't put enough info in my OP. I'm primarily interested in building a single speed rig for commuting and it needs to fit 28c.

Does it have a HT angle that defies 100 years of bicycle design due to your highly unusual torso?

Mike has enough going in his life...the Zincanato project will have to go on the back burner.

You have to go with magnesium.

Light, stiff, and if you're lost and need a flare just chip off a bit from the TT and you're good to go. Just don't get it too close to the campfire.

You should do the ultimate- Carbon Nanotubes out of Graphene.
Unfortunately, the stuff is like $250/gram so a frame will probably be like $200,000.

What about copper? I mean copper is in that general area in the periodic table as well. In my hometown there was this crazy guy who used to saw off the top tubes of his bikes and somehow replace it with copper tubing. I think wire or some type of adhesive was involved. I mean hey he might be on to something, can't just dismiss it outright.

IIRC he also used to have a wallet on a long string... throw in front of a group of people from a distance, and *BOOM* hilarity!

Yo do know what Zinc and Copper make when they get together, right? Or add some Tin for a little extra pizazz.
