The bit about being given the wheels is what I was hinting at above - apparently the Secret Pro doesn't have his facts straight. The story I heard was that someone high up at CarbonSports apparently laughed at this news because there is no way they would ever devalue their wheels by giving them away, regardless of who the end user is!

Not getting an F12 xlight to 6.8kg ? This is absurd.

    You’re forgetting the motor.

Not new news, but I stumbled across it yesterday after chatting to Rich. I'm not the target market for these so I appreciate they could care less what I think.

But...previously the argument was Lightweights weren't wide or aero because they were...well...lightweight.

Now, they do Fernweg EVO. This is still old school in terms of internal width (18.2mm), but a sensible modern aero shape. Except now your tubeless ready disc wheelset is going to cost you US$9,250. That's not a typo and it is just the wheels.

Oh, and in some alternative facts for the brand, these Lightweights are not. 1,695g.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it, and I doubt they would lose any sleep if I did, but I don't get why they exist and I do get why firms like Partington might be out to steal their lunch.

Lighter than Lightweight? Partington’s 1,15g disc brake tubeless wheels | CyclingTips

Except AU$7,950 is about US$5k. That would leave you US$4k for bottle cages and whatnot.
