    Default They Got Pozzovivo

He might not be as much of a bottle rocket on climbs as he once was, but he's been a great lieutenant to Nibali. Always a favorite. I hope he recovers well enough he can enjoy the rest of his life in relative comfort with no lasting injury.

Didn't this guy get taking out by a cat coming down the Stelvio one year in training resulting in various breaks? Some people have no luck.

    From CyclingNews:

In August 2014, Pozzovivo sustained a fractured tibia and fibula in a training crash near the Stelvio when a cat ran across the road in front if him. Those injuries forced him out of the 2014 Vuelta. During the 2015 Giro d'Italia he crashed hard during stage 3, suffering serious facial wounds and a head trauma. This spring he crashed during the final of Gent-Wevelgem, suffering further head injuries.
He's tough. But this collision sounds very serious. He was evidently hit head-on by the car, impacting the right side and going through the windshield. I really hope he recovers.

This is very sad news. Aside from empathy for another cyclist, Pozzovivo can really light up a race.

Been a long damn time since I looked at a car when I'm cycling and thought "there's my fellow human being in there" instead of "there's an uncontrolled apex predator with no enemies to fear in there." I am not ashamed to call myself an anti-motorist bigot.
