Thanks for the link. It's amazing that they are going up a freakin' mountain using that kind of gearing.

so - can we now mebbe look at the, er - attack (and subsequent passing of all 19 riders) that afternoon in a different light atmo?
for a brief moment in time, the break riders were branded as outlaws.
    that's fkingcu inane.

    hey - thanks for reading.

    It makes the most sense.

    SRAM guy:
He said Andy was in the 38/12. As he pedaled, the chain was scraping the inside of the big ring and it must have hit the pick up ramps causing a skip and the resulting slack in the chain caused it to drop.

    Me:
I think that by far the most plausible explanation. I'm sure he was putting all sorts of power down and things were flexing somewhere. It was his left leg that was coming through the most powerful part of the stroke. There is a lesson here somewhere. Don't use an extreme chain cross when attacking.

i suggest fitting something like a rear car door child lock mechanism to the shifters that blocks out the possibility of cross chaining. then mechanics could safegaurd these riders from themselves.

    perhaps L plates would suffice.
or is the white jersey a L plate? i was under the impression it was like those prizes they give out at wella for best upcoming hairdresser of the year, though, come to think of it, i dont think they hand them out to the same guy twice in a row.

personally i vow never to attack in a 38-12 when climbing one of the hc or cat 1 climbs in the tour.
might chuck me chain and give away the win...

    hate for that to happen.

I wasn't going to respond any further on this debate, as I think it pointless. But branding all opinions that differ from yours on this subject as fkingcu inane is beyond the pale.
