    Default Smaller teams

One of the things that made the Olympic road race hard to predict was the 5 man teams. With fewer rides, it is harder if not impossible for a single team to control a race, even one as strong as team GB.

I wonder if protour races might benefit from a similar format. 5 or 6 rider teams instead of 9, and stage more teams. It seems like it would open up the races more, force more alliances, and give more riders a chance at victory.

    Thoughts?

It won't happen - too many of the a/hole types whose businesses are based on the TV time and publicity derived from the sport need it to grow, not recede. They have sucked the humanity out of what once was an organic, working man's sport and turned it into Rollerball or similar. The best entertainment that comes from pro cycling is the off-the-parcours drama and the train wrecks that come from catching another doper lying atmo.

Could be interesting for one day races. Longer races the teams are going to lose some riders,
and if the teams only have 2 or 3 guys, it would play havoc with the results.
