shaving the legs

I'm a hairy ape right now, but soon the leg hair will come off. I'd rather not lay it down in a muddy cross race with a hairy leg, or two. Normally I use the pretty pink plastic razors. I hate disposable razors because throwing plastic into a landfill bothers me, and they just kinda suck.
I also hate shaving more than cleaning my bike, and that's a lot. Last year I received as a gift a fine Norelco electric razor. I absolutely love it. It's is the sort that one can use while wet in the shower or in the tub. Of course while shaving my mug in the shower last fall I decided to try it on my knees, a particularly tricky spot. I declared it an instant success, as there was no bleeding and it resulted in a quite smooth and silky pair of knees. The idea of shaving my legs with my facial razor seems kinda gross, but I'm not sure why. It's all my DNA right? It's not as if I'm going to shave my ass with it!
What I would like is to get a decent quality ladies leg shaver. Something really cute in pink or teal would be ideal, and something not too expensive. I looked at one yesterday that was about $50.00. If you add up the cost of a bunch of disposable razors that's pretty cheap, and there is of course less waste. Will something like this work, or do I need to spend $100. like my fancy facial razor? Any advice from the females would be truly appreciated, or men who have tried this.

I'm confused. Why are you not using the Norelco that you're so happy with? That's the most cost-effective solution, and maybe the overall best solution, too.

ohhhhh i am so lurking on this one. i too am a little concerned about the disposable razor thing but aprehensive about the electric thing too (there are costs associated w those as well.) but i gotta say--the Venus razors?--you gals have been holding out on those. they are awesome.

I very recently shaved my face for the first time in over twenty years. It's been interesting learning how to shave again - I was so proud when I went two days without cutting myself!

I've been using a Trac2 for years now - The little blade cartridges are disposable, but they're so tiny.... and since I just trimmed around my jawline, they'd last forever. But if I keep with the babyface look, I may need to re-examine my tool and get something greener.

Shino...electric is good to get you going, but once smooth, a razor is the way to go. You will wear out the blades of the one you use for your face if you use it regularly, but for the intial get go, it will be fine. Get a razor with replaceable blades/cartridges to keep your environmental conscious at bay. I like the Venus...but these days I think my husbands legs are smoother than mine...sigh---and he just uses whatever I buy.

P.S. Use your own razor and never use the same razor for your mug as for your legs. you will bleed.

I'm the type of biker who shaves once or twice a week at the most..I'm pretty lazy about it. My girlfriend wishes I'd do a better job!

What is a nug? I'm at work right now and only half awake sitting in a warm, comfy chair. When I'm in the coffin all I think about it breathing, and counting down 45 minutes.
