Q on shoes for my daughter ...

Took the littlest one out this morning to do some shoe shopping.

She tried on a pair of PI's in a 38 which she declared to fit perfectly, she was especially enamoured of the high arch.

She also tried on a Specialized shoe in 38 which seemingly had a lower arch and was longer (also the smallest size they make). I was somewhat surprised as I thought the Specialized was supposed to fit narrower.

Monday is a stat holiday here so will try to get her out Tuesday, I know one of the other shops carries Diadora. I don't know if anyone in town carries either LG or Sidi.

Based on the experience here, what brands would you suggest for a highish arch and a narrow fit, like that PI. I was surprised how well the PI fit her. Any thoughts on PI shoes generally?

Its a solid product line. Really been refined since Shimano acquired it. The box even touts a fit guarantee (60 days?). No reason not to try them if she got a good impression off the fit.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't actually aware that Shimano had bought them. That's probably a good thing.

I'll take her back in on Tuesday.

Specialized actually fit a bit wider. I find Sidi's fit on the narrow side. I think the LG's do too. I use Sidi's for road and Specialized for mtn and cross and go half a size down on the Specs to account for the width along with their medium insole for my high arch and to take up a bit extra room.
