As joosttx said, these are possible on ti bikes. Re the extended headtube, Jon C at Moots recently had this to say about someone asking about a taller (e.g., one size up) headtube on a stock-sized bike:

"We do keep the protrusion to a maximum of 3cm above the TT....it's just not good build principals to go longer without going custom and bringing the TT up the headtube....for a couple of reasons:

    1. The further the head tube sticks out above the TT the more it wants to warp during welding. Not good for headset function...

    2. It just plain looks bad. If the rider needs more than that we'd go custom to keep the warping to a minimum and keep the aesthetics in check."

Another example as fashioned by Moots for Hampsten--pump peg with slight head tube extension.

Do you mean adding those doodads to an existing frame?

Yes . . . I made an extender from aluminum for mine when I went threadless, using the same dimensions as a headset for a press fit. That has worked fine and I'll replace it with a matching titanium bit when a new fork goes in. Extension is about 18 mm.

Mine already had a pump peg, but I've added them to aluminum bikes by making a little divot with a drill point and/or Dremel tool, and using epoxy.

    So there's the no-weld method.
