    Default parts lust

    For me its wheels.

Apparently HED is now selling Jet rims only, and they have them in tubular. This is significant imho because a 45ism mm tub rim laced to 20x24 King R45s sounds like a really solid wheelset (great hubs, and hopefully retains a ride feel similar to the original Carbones). Most importantly with decent braking! My Cosmic Carbon Pro's are the bestest wheels I've ever been on - but they don't brake worth crap, dats not good around here...

Whats got you all hot and bothered lately?

I'm with you - something about a 45-ish carbon rim (although I've been eyeing the Enves) that just looks hot.

Unfortunately, that's it. Other than the frame, parts don't seem to be all that lust-worthy. There are many that I want - ney, won't settle for less - but it's not quite lust. It's more like admiration for the perfectly functional part. Someone needs to bring the sexy back.

I got Enve 8.9s coming my way. Lots of lust. I also long for Record EPS, but unfortunately that's not in the cards right now.

The new SRAM Red brakes would probably be lipstick on my pig, but I'm leaning towards getting them anyway.

Okay, Super Records (non-EPS at the moment, cuz EPS is a bit bulky) might stir something in my loins. That's as close as a current gruppo gets though.

ENVE setback seatposts as well as Ericksen Sweetposts. I love the curves.

Thomsons are indestructible, but their setback aesthetics make me sad.

I had wheels built last year that were similar to what musgravecycles described above - hand-built version of Cosmic Carbone Pro or the tubular Shimano C50, for a solid, tub wheelset. I used Alchemy hubs, DT spokes and Equinox 50mm carbon tubular rims. They are what I wanted for fast road wheels.

As for other parts - none of the current groups really evoke an emotional response for me. I'm hoarding old DA 7800 and 57mm brakes, 10sp Campagnolo, and even a few '90's era Campag parts here or there. I guess I'd like a nicer BB30 crank for the PF30 BB shell on one of my bikes. Currently, I have a low cost aluminum one, which is OK. So maybe I'll pick up last year's RED once they drop in price, when the new 2012 goes on sale.

And still lusting for old fashion round bars in various bends - shallow, deep and the recently re-issued Criterium 65 which I just picked up.

Chris King R45 Campy hubs (with HED C2's and DT Revolution spokes) in 28H.

And that IF SST Max bike from NAHBS. I see that bike while I am sleeping.

Yup- exactly that. 2 cross from. ND2x/D3x in the rear. With Vittoiria shoes.

I need that for my IF build- I have Shimano r45 king hubs laced up....so close to the lust set up.

    Other bits of lust:
I am lusting for a Fizik Arione carbon saddle.
Paul Racer brakes (and the bike that needs to be attached to them).
And for some reason those super big Deda bars.

I'm kind of in the mood for some Alchemy hubs..... Additionally, I sort of like the look of the new Chris King hubs. I dig the slots on the King rear hub.

I am also really trying to resist buying a new wheelset as I need that like the flu.... But I think the CK45/Campy would be the hubs when that happens.

    I'm lusting for two bikes:
obsessing over the Zetti Corsa and lusting over a Hampco Max. Other than that it's wheels. Wanting some ENVE SES 3.4's and a set of 1.25's, both on CKR45's. I'd like a nice set of clinchers too, some HED C2's.
Drivetrain's don't hurt me too bad, although a super record group would sure be nice.

I would not be disappointed if every one of my bikes rolled polished White Industries hubs.

I have a couple of things I am really sweating...

    1) Assos Limited edition 851 jacket in the Soho yellow. I just bought the very hard to find revolution color, but I also want the yellow one. I love jackets.

    2) 120mm 1-1/4" stem for my Canyon. Why can't someone make this and not have it cost $130?

My sun room is where race bikes go to enjoy a life of leisure.

I am not sure why it has a 39-42, but I think that is what I found in the shed. The shifting with the Sram 10 speed flat bar system is spectacular, especially if there is only a 3 tooth difference. Also for the pulley system, I dremeled out an old derailleur jockey, and it works much better than a stock pulley system.

I love my Chris King headsets, but I'm going to push you towards the Alchemy hubs, especially for your Campy. The rear ORC hub will help with the severe dish for Campy users.

Finish isn't quite as pretty as the CK hubs, but there's solid thought and engineering behind Alchemy.

Cool set-up on your Hampco Mudpig! With such a close ratio, you could also consider a single ring with double guard plates. I've been using that kind of set-up on my old Ridley, with a 38t and a very wide ratio rear cassette. One less derailleur to worry about, and the chain unshipping on the front is a thing of the past

I tried the single ring setup for several seasons, but for some reason, I could never get the chainline setup just right.
