That race always seems tough.
You're thinking of the Superprestige Cross in Gavere. Definitely looks like one of the tougher courses to conquer.

It was pretty reasonable (dry) this year, but year after year my favorite to watch.

The Vlaamse Druivencross at Overijse is another great course too.

And very memorable for this bit of action:

Citadel in Namen my favorite (most difficult?) cross. The historic venue;that awful off-camber; and that mean drop descend, that the is challenging especially in the women's race.

Namen. If that is wet it is nuts.

Is that not Namur? Or is that a Dutch/French difference in bilingual Belgium?

    Very gnarly course indeed.

Namen is the dutch name for the belgian wallonian city Namur. I think Rabo is dutch while the city is better known worldwide from its wallonian/french name hence the confusion.

Vervecken riding the new Namur course.
350 m cobble climb is new.
VdP can arrive 5 minutes late to the start and still win.

Speaking of mud, it is like a sugar beet farm after harvest in Ronse today.

And Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado gets a nice win by not panicking during mishaps and taking a quick step around Worst when Worst's bike got snagged awkwardly in the slipperiest corner of the course. Alvarado basically led the whole race, but Worst threatened towards the end until the bike snag.

Dog with leash got on the course in Overijse. Tried to bite a couple ankles but then decided it would run along with the riders. Succeeded in splitting the lead group into 4 sections. Luckily no one crashed and no one appeared to have gotten actually bitten.

Cool to see Gage Hecht winning national. Felt bad for Werner who had no chance not crashing into Hecht on that descend.

A big pile of bad luck for Werner. He looked every bit the equal of Hecht, but he paid the price for Hecht's mistake.

^^^ ugh. I just watched that again.

And this version! Chad Grice on Instagram: “The moment that @gchecht took out the competition @kerryw24
    The deciding moment of
    #cxnats219 elite men.”

Hecht really made a mess. Not sure "cross coma" is a decent excuse for dragging tape and a large plastic stake back onto the course, right in front of a competitor.

Why is there a guy racing with what looks like a stars & straps jersey in your nat. championship?

Outgoing national champions were allowed/requested by USA Cycling to race with their nat champ jersey so the crowds would know who the defending champion in each race was. I can understand the reasoning but I still think they shouldn't have done it.

Looks like Kerry just locked up his front for some reason. Sucks when others force a mistake..

Did he take a post with him across the wheel of Werner?
