Default NYC Westside Highway bike ram incident

It was captured on film, the cops appeared, and nothing happened. Now for the rest of the story....

From the article: "The driver whose apparent attempt to run over a defiant cyclist with his car sparked controversy this week—and raised questions about why cops at the scene did not cite him in the incident—is an FDNY firefighter."

This needs no other explanation. NYPD protecting FDNY even at the cost of another human life. Pathetic.

I'd say that the cyclist is SOL as the driver is a...FDNY firefighter, Army reserve officer, iron pumper and drives a Dodge Challenger. I like how he referred the case to his Union rep and not his attorney too.

Fun to watch the video of the officer getting him to hand over the cell phone, and then letting him drive away (after the NYPD van blocked line of sight for the onlooker documenting the indicent). Don't let anyone say FDNY IDs on the car are not effective!

That was a traffic cop - light blue shirt - who in all other areas are called "meter maids". That meter maid was probably more scared of also getting run over by the FDNY person than of losing her job. Traffic cops have no real power other than to write parking tickets. She would have had to call a "real cop" to get anything done. Not absolving her of anything, just added info.
