Default Is my F10 too stiff ?

Well this is sort of a serious question. I "upgraded" from my F8 a few weeks ago. The F10 is the exact same geo as the F8, handles the same (great), fits the same (perfect) and almost looks the same too. But somehow I feel slower on it and the bike feels harder to get up to speed. This frame is supposed to be (typical marketing BS): stiffer, lighter, more aero by x%,y%,z% than the F8.

All of this is probably completely in my head but I thought i'd ask anyway... Could this be an example where this frame is "too stiff for me" ?

Another disclaimer I am not in great shape (have not been for 18 months, about 5kg over where I should be) but still ride very regularly.

    Opinions ?

    Needs more planing.

Seriously tho, I suspect it's all in your head.

Also, I can't imagine that any improvements in the F10 are worth the cost to upgrade from an F8 that isn't broken or something. So obviously you're crazy. ;-)

Actually my F8 was broken, and repaired from a crash 6 months after I got it.

Maybe you should break the new one too then!

Whenever that happens to me I check to see if my brakes are rubbing. Once I confirm that they are not rubbing, I let out a sigh and accept the fact that I'm slow.

Every time I felt that an aspect of my equipment, tires, frameset etc. felt slower, they were. For example, I once glued some supposed super fast tubs to my time trial wheels, and my god, they felt like Velcro on the road. All marketing speak claimed that they were the fastest tubs manufactured at the time. My tt times said otherwise. Some time later CRR data confirmed that they were dogs. It could simply be that the increased stiffness is causing additional fatigue over the duration of your rides. Or maybe the F10 is a bow-wow.

My memory is always faster than I am. It spins up faster and is much more aerodynamic. And it is never out of shape. I on the other hand am gravity defined. I sink in water and leave footprints in steel plate.

I am sure France winning the World Cup and the celebration there after has affected your ability to reach speed quickly,

It's easy to be dismissed as a retrogrouch, but you have a perspective that was gained by having experienced other bikes. One of the biggest lies ever told in cycling is that a frame can be stiff yet compliant. What makes a bike great is balance. In the never ending quest for lighter, stiffer, more aero, whatever we've lost a lot of great experience.

I once thought my Raleigh 753 was too stiff, then I got fat and it rode better.

What does your power meter and garmin say? You need to run some serious diagnostics. It has been my experience that the engine loses torque and just doesn't seem as peppy when it gets older. You have a new frame, but the motor is older.

It could be, I've certainly had frames that seem to transmit too much road shock and are too harsh and uncomfortable to make me feel efficient. I sold them and bought something else.

My Big Leg Emma with the Boyd 60's is good for about 40 miles, I worry about my kidneys after that.

Some abilities are overrated. Reaching speed slowly is a more admirable trait.

It's got to be you. The F10 is like 2 better than the F8. Do the math.
