My daughter (bike content)

Today at my daughter's school they had a school-wide bike-a-thon over at the mellowdrome to raise money for each classroom's field-trips. Sydney (7 years old - 2nd grader) has been excited about this for several weeks - making sure I was getting her bike ready ("Daddy, I_need_a water-bottle cage and a computer"), hitting up folks for pledges, picking her riding cloths, etc. So this morning she got it in her head she was going to ride at least 20 miles...then 30...then 35...then "a few more laps." When she finally decided to crawl off she had ridden 38 miles (more than a third of her room's total mileage).

Anyway sorry to interrupt your evening, but I'm a proud Papa...and I fell in love with bikes all over again today...and it's_really_cool to watch kids having fun exercising...

That's so awesome. I have an eleven who was gutted when I told her I wouldn't be able to take her to track training this week. Then I was gutted.

I have a 7-year old 2nd grade daughter too and am in awe that yours covered 38 miles.
My daughter is getting into cycling too, I can proudly brag that she eagerly took up racing a cyclocross series with me this fall and loved it. Tough work negotiating CX barriers that are knee-high with a bike that weighs 1/3 of your bodyweight!

My 14 yr old the other day. Mile long climb near our house. I can still toast him on the flats. Now his power to weight ratio is beneficial and he delights in showing me his heels.

I love photos of kids on bikes. 38 miles is superlative.

At breakfast this morning Camille (Sydney's 5yr-old sister) said "I can't wait to do a bike-a-thon sissy cause I wanna break your record!"

I'm jealous of you guys, but my boy at 7 and my oldest daughter at 5 are up for 10-15 on a good day, so I guess I can't complain. It was really fun this Summer riding the Route of the Hiawatha rail-to-trail (border of MT/idaho) though many "tunnels of mystery," and beside many "cliffs of doom."

That's impressive work from all the kids mentioned, especially the munchkin vaulting cross barriers in a skirt!

My 11 y.o. Has just graduated from a BMX to my old MTB. 15" frame, seat down pretty low and shorty stem.
Looks awful but he loves it.
"Dad, this is so f¥€*^ing fast!!!" I was too chuffed to chastise him for the inappropriate language.
