    Default Midweek. Good decisions.

Burning some use it or lose it vaca. Short on time before doc appt. Concerned about getting back I decide to do a level road out to a timecheck and back ride, but it isn't real inspiring and on the way out I look to the left at the hill concealed by the low cloud and decide despite being on terrible form to go up the hill. I've been moaning about not being able to ride well when I try but in truth I don't try. It was good to try.

Bad photo at the top. We came from down there, where you can't see.

I'm at the same base of hill that you just climbed.

Give it your best even when no one is looking.

I took the decision to not go to work and sat on my couch doing nothing with my feet up for a day.

It's called recovery and is the most important part of an athlete's life I am told. As it is I made a poor decision today and came to work.

Today rode up the other side of the valley, wandered around some back roads reveling in having them all to myself with not a car anywhere and came out on a main road to head down to the back road towards home. Yup, you guessed it. Road hunting looking for deer I put the back wheel in a crack and blew the tire off. No issue, except of all places to change a tire after a couple hours of utter peace - semis ripping past at sixty miles an hour. Ah well, fixed it and headed home, turned on to the road back toward town and out of the very surprising headwind (from the east the day after a storm pulls out? Highly unusual.) and smiled all the way in. Is nice to steal about fifty miles midweek in November.

I think that is my fav 'salvo
Falling from high places, falling through lost spaces,
Now that we're lonely, now that there's nowhere to go.
