I signed up with Motoman, we're riding it in memory of Tyler's chimeric twin

Jeez, I rode this thing twice because a friend of mine signed me up and the course is great but I have no desire to go back. Could never stand this Levi wheel sucker guy.

    I've never worn a Levi's.

Might sounds bizarre but it is true. Are they much better than other blue jeans ?

yes and no. they're affordable jeans (you can usually find a pair for $30 or so) that wear reasonably well and look good. there are definitely more fashionable choices out there for more money (designer jeans). There are also less expensive jeans that either fall apart or look bad.

The bicycle comparison would be Shimano 105.

    Ah something I understand finally.

The thing is I always had some but have never been a jeans guy per se so never seeked a particular model/brand. The only thing I know is that those slippery full carbon saddles are the best saddle as far as pants wear is related. It might look like a poor choice for a bike dedicated to the city and going to the pub but I tend to favor my Flite evo on the bike I use the most with street wear.

it used to be that I would simply get a new pair of the 514 jeans from Costco every 6 months or so. Costco stopped carrying them so I tried macy's. oddly they didn't fit so I went and grabbed 3-4 pairs in the same size and tried them all on. none fit the same. upon stacking them, they were all clearly slightly different. frustrated I tried another brand. maybe they just had a bad few months manufacturing. i'll try again but found the experience rather disappointing.

That's not atypical unfortunately. Consistency from pair to pair can be poor, especially if they're a different wash or material. They also use a bunch of different factories to make this stuff which all have slightly different design variations. The chances of being able to rebuy an identical pair 6 months later are poor. YMMV

I went to a Levi's store for new jeans. They didn't have my size in shrink to fit, EVERYTHING ELSE was stretch to fit and had stitching colors that do not belong on Levi's. I'm fixing to order some Carharts (because the OSH stores that used to carry them are closed).

I have a few pairs of the 501s made in the US from Cone Mills selvedge denim. Should have picked up another pair or two, but these will last a long time.

I like Carhartt a lot - some of the 1889 styles in dark blue are A+ for me.

I check Sierra Trading Post once or twice a year and stock up if they have my size. Usually $20/pair, never more than $30.
