The inaugural VSalon Ballers Ride

Greetings,
Josh, Jonathan, Richard, Craig, and myself invite you to a weekend of riding and extreme ball busting in the beautiful mountains of Virginia. We talk all year about how incredible these dirt road rides are that are popping up all over North America. We decided it was time to start a tradition of our own and create some memories. Josh is mapping out a killer 90 mile loop for Saturday, June 4. It will be a D2R2 style course, full of dirt roads and lots of climbing (and descending!). Sunday will have an adventure ride in the morning followed by lots of hot laps and mock racing on a cyclocross course that we'll lay out Saturday afternoon after the 90. The whole weekend will be about celebrating the do-almost-everything bike.

Is this something which will be able to be done on a road bike? Maybe with some 25mm Continental Competitions at 85 PSI?

I don't yet have a do-it-all ride....

I did d2r2 on 25s my first time. It was fine, but a little sketchy at times. We'll just point and laugh if you fall in the mud.

Works for me! The only issue is if the gravel roads are hard pack gravel roads or really loose, big road gravel roads or dirt roads that are unpassable. If I can make it I'll be on the Zank with a pair of of Continental 25s.

Works for me! The only issue is if the gravel roads are hard pack gravel roads or really loose, big road gravel roads or dirt roads that are unpassable. If I can make it I'll be on the Zank with a pair of of Continental 25s.

I think you'll be fine Saab for everything but the cross course and I'll bet there will be an extra bike or two around for that.

Clearly I'll have an up charge as no one in their right mind would room with me.

Folks, the saturday ride showcases all-rounder and road bikes. We will hit some insanely beautiful roads and a couple dirt divergences just for giggles. For saturday you will not need tyres bigger than 23 if you know how to handle yourself. Be prepared with a well maintained bike, fresh brake pads and new-ish tyres.

Saturday afternoon get a nap than change tyres or wheels and help beat down the CX course for tommorrow.

Sunday it is time for CX bikes to shine!!! We go for a stretch ride along the Rockfish river and shake the cobwebs out. Back for seriously strong coffee, some talks with the builders than it's time for CX hot laps until you say STOP!!!! I'll kick y'all out of the Inn before the sun goes down so we can clean up and get home. Day trippers are welcome on Sunday starting at 12 noon for hot laps, builder talks and "non-races". The charge for Sunday is $25.

Please be prepared to ride all the miles saturday. We will have an "A" and an "B" group both will maintain an 17mph pace however the "A" group will not slow down much on climbs or stop long at the rest breaks. These are group rides and the two bunches are expected to maintain an steady pace and stay together. Nobody rides alone.

I'm encouraging everyone to double up in the rooms becuase we want an good crowd. Accomodations are very decent but not fancy. We want folks who are there to ride hard, no whining.

This is an GREAT opportunity to ride with builders and folks who love to ride bikes.
