The pope was from Sotto il Monte, just a couple of crossroads away. Bergamo: it's what's happening, baby!

No reason other than they were on sale for 65% off the list price of $70!

I like Paves but they seem vulnerable to road debris found along the edges where I ride. They may handle cobblestones and bricks, but some gravel with bits of sharp rocks will cut the tread. Each summer I spend a week in Fredericksburg, TX which is the mecca of Texas cycling according to Fredericksburg. The roads around there are made for Paves, less than perfect pavement, rough sections, but clean of loose stuff.

Every tire has its place. Except Armadillos.

They flat less than fmbs, and do not delaminate as often. The green matches my bike, kinda. And last year's model got blown out cheap....

Only the vlaanderens veloflex makes are more tempting, and really are better general use tires.

I like Vittoria because they're usually well within my price range. Corsa G+ for $38.xx right now, which is typical discount with some hunting.

I don't know where the Diamante fit into the lineup, somewhere midrange I believe, though they've been plenty nice for me.

Maybe if I ever do try some Velo or FMB my perspective will change.

Diamante is a 220tpi tire. It fits between Rubino and Open Corsa. Nice stuff.

I ride Vittorias because of the road feel. Vittoria CX at 25mm, green Michelin latex tubes. Feels as close to a tubular as I've ridden. I haven't had problems with flats on Seattle roads. (Knock on wood, or for you Italophiles, facciamo le corne.)

That said, I just rode the Vittoria 28mm Corsa G tires on a Hampsten custom carbon, and THAT was magic carpet ride.
