It has started so I have started a thread.

I assumed you started this thread because it is pissing rain in the UK and you had time to kill. . .

as long as I have your attention, it is not on ITV since they are showing something stupid in France with rackets and balls, where is it on in UK? Eurosport?

    Should be on Eurosport.

Depending on where your digital devices think they are, you can also get it through RaceTV on the GCN app. Along with European cyclocross.

If you subscribe to Eurosport you get uninterrupted coverage without any advertisement breaks. Peter Sagan narrowly failed to get the KOM jersey on stage 1, Rick Zabel just beat him.

Monday's stage with a climb up Mount Etna should be worth following.

I am semi-retired and in six weeks will be fully retired so I can bike in the morning and watch live European cycling in the afternoon.

Eurosport also has a daily Giro review show with Bradley Wiggins, Brian Smith presented by GCNs Dan Lloyd........as they did with Le Tour.

Fubo TV is broadcasting the Giro in the U.S. They have a cycling pass that's not too crazy expensive ($59.99 for the 2020 cycling season).

    There is another video here.

I am really sorry for Thomas and I think it has possibly spoilt the Giro as a spectacle this year. Thomas has a reputation for crashes but if you look at those videos there were bidons scattered everywhere across the street, it is surprising more riders did not fall.

Looked like two Astana riders dropped bottles on an exchange right behind the car.

I didnít have much faith in Thomasí chances anyway. He basically got the cold shoulder to start the season, and Brailsford usually seems to have a good sense when to drop a rider down the ranks from leader.

I more look forward to Nibali-o-rama and then altitude wars between Europe and South America.

When Thomas hit the bottle, he was also going over a lot of road paint. Once the tires started slipping, it would have taken a miracle to get that bike back under control.

I read somewhere(apologies for not remembering) that the Peloton had just ridden over a culvert/ drain and bottles were ejected from numerous cages.

It's funny how the UCI enacts a lot of rules governing the design of bikes in the name of safety, yet can't regulate cages that don't eject bottles.

Drop the bike weight rule, and enact a bottle cage weight rule.

Don't forget the UCI can do sock height, but can't put protective barriers in the right spot on a corner.

Yep. Chloe Dygart during TT at the WCís. Greg Van Avermaet and Jay McCarthy yesterday.

They cover themselves by making that the responsibility of the race organizers, but what does it mean to be the sanctioning body of a competition if you arenít assuring safety of the course? Maybe if they put those circular stickers on every obstacle like they do frames?

From the video, it looks like there was a rough section of pavers in between the crosswalks.

Thomas did go down pretty hard on one side of his body. Not surprised he couldn't keep up.

Whenever the Giro visits Sicily, I think of the movie L’Aventura and the images of the San Carlo Cathedral and the piazza in Noto. That’s quite a movie.

Giro/UCI need to have some basic regs about how well the damn water bottle cages actually hold bottles. Inexcusable to have all those bottles go flying today after going over a little traffic calming bump. Make them all use King SS cages, for cryin' out loud.

    This.

After more than a century of riding Paris-Roubaix, we know how to make bottle cages that retain bottles. A bad patch of road is a poor excuse.
