    Default George Hincapie

George Hincapie will have ridden on 9, yes 9 tour winning teams. He has stood on a record equaling 16 TdF start lines. But has only finished 15. Today, he was quaoted as saying he just might be back next year to help Cadel again. If he does, that and finishes, he will have equaled Joop Zootemelk's 16 finishes and break the record for starts.

But having ridden on 9 winning teams HAS to be a record, huh?
    Good cyclists are:
Visible, Predictable, Alert, Assertive and Courteous

They also use the five layers of protection available.
    Layer 1: Control your bike
Layer 2: Know and follow the rules of the road
Layer 3: Ride in the smartest lane position
    Layer 4: Manage hazards skillfully
    Layer 5: Utilize passive protection.

    Geo will be back.

I love seeing the old guys setting the pace. NO shortage of GH or JV putting in hard pulls this year.

Earlier in this years tour it was impressive watching him do a yeomans job up front. Pissed me off a couple years ago when Lance stole a stage win from him for no reason.

Jens is another of my favorite riders. I can't name any of the young guns who are as tough or solid as riders. They remind me of Jaja.

Maybe that's why GH testified for the grand jury against LA

You don't have to look far. You just have to look.
the old riders are expected to sit and pull because in reality they aren't going to win the stage or the 1-day.
just like in one of the other threads- one of the salonistas had never heard of Johnny Hoogeland before. Prior to his infamous wreck this year he was known for his toughness.
they're out there, you just have to go beyond the mainstream "darlings" to find them.

Don't bank on him being back next year. When Lance gets taken down you can be sure he will bring down everyone that was with him.

Geo will be back barring complications. Cadel said that he knew BMC meant business when they hired Hincapie, and was a factor in his joining the team. i know there's more to all of that, but that's what i got.

treachery and old age will overcome!

Of course Thor is up there are a tough guy. Hoogerland is gaining my respect and there are about three or four other I can't mname who would have fit in bumping elbows with the hard guys like Boonen (although he crashed out this year).
