I really enjoyed watching him in the rain in Montreal on Mt Royale, as he crushed everyone. He was very accomplished as a racer and manager. Too bad he's gone!

RIP to a hard classics guy. At least he passed doing something he had passion for; it would take guts to climb into a rally car! I will never forget P-R in '96 when he was the 4th Mapei in the top 5; he pulled Zannini into no-man's land and then let off the gas ensuring that Mapei went 1-2-3 while he took 5th..

    Condolences,

    Scott

My biggest memory of him was when Ballerini towed a dead-looking Duclos-Lasalle to Roubaix and then the photo finish where he was defeated by same. Outrageous acting and bluffing by D-L, who really was about dead. Happy Ballerini later won a couple of them. A hard Italian in the northern classics is kind of a rarity.

Ironically... NOT on a bicycle accident... Life can be so strange... He was an awesome Classic's rider!

A big and powerful rider that was still graceful on the bike.
