Default Floyd, don't go to Rock

haven't you seen that its a chaotic mess there and they can't even maintain basic relationships with sponsors or work from a simple budget (good luck getting paid)? I know you wanna get back to Europe, but I saw local 1's making you grimace in domestic races and I mean....
    why force it?

just sayin.... is it that important? why not go over there and get on a smaller euro team and stay clear of the circus?

Any insight into Floyd's lack of success on the domestic racing circuit? Is it a lack of chemical enhancement or a lack of motivation? Or a surplus of beer (as has been reported in the popular cycling press...)?

I'll give him all the frames he wants if he comes back to MTB racing. If he has enough fun he will be as fast or faster than Adam Craig.

When I saw him at the NVGP last summer he didn't look like he was having fun. There was zero fire in his eyes. Maybe he's depressed. Maybe he's just picking up a paycheck. Who knows.

Mickey does bring up a good point about mountain bike racing. Given the exodus of top talent from the pro xc ranks, he could probably clean house there. I'd sure rather kick ass on a mountain bike than carry water bottles for a continental team.

For all you who didn't follow pro XC racing in the late '90s, Floyd is one of the best bike riders, technically of all time. Up there with Tomac and Adam Craig.

He also once passed me in a wheelie playing a harmonica.

Seems like Silence-Lotto would be interested in a GT rider who won't demand a huge salary.

Someone was telling me this weekend that they were nearby once when the mechanics were getting the road bikes out of the van and floyd went over to one and rode it in street shoes with out a front wheel around the parking lot untill he got bored with it. I'd love to see him race mtb's again...

I just hope Floyd gets his life together. I would hate to see him go down the same road as Tyler Hamilton. He needs to find some passion, either on the bike or off.

I think Floyd needs to recapture the magic by beating Armstrong and Weins at Leadville in 2010.....

yeah, and rock ain't it @landisman.

year before last floyd was "reported" to be coming to a mtb race i was doing...didn't...so we drank w/o him.

floyd at leadville would be cool--even if it is 100% doubletrack.

Floyd needs to get out of the US and just go ride his bike and start enjoying life again. Hell, why not a go with the Shack?

Wouldn't it be funny if he just showed up and said, "thanks for the advice, I'll tear that contract up."

Do not forget the abundance of pavement at the start/end.

"Public records show $815,000 worth of mortgage and home equity loans in his name. Two loans totaling $639,000 are for the house in Murrieta that he purchased for $487,000 in 2003 and, according to one popular real estate Web site, is worth $406,000 today – half of what it was at the market's height."

    hope he saved some money,
or is prepared to get a real job.

Maybe he knows that RR will at least get him back in the spotlight and get him a bit more attention. Stepping stone. Who knows, FL needs somethign right now and maybe not many folks want to take that type of risk.
