Interesting that the motor gives 400watts but tops out at 25kmph

I guess they wouldn’t develop it if there wasn’t a market and a business case to justify it. To be honest I don’t have an issue with it. The tech will surely trickle down to more affordable versions in future?

The speed limitation is a factor of European regulation,
or lack of regulation if the speed is limited to 25km/h pedal assist.
32km/h pedalics are subject to different rules. A recent law was passed
they are going to require liability insurance.

400 watts on a climb would be nice to have!

e-bikes with assistance stopping at 25kph are homologated as bicycles.
e-bikes with assistance goign up to 45kph are considered as moped, needs to be insured, have plates and must obey the same rules as mopeds which mean you can't use a bike lane if local juridiction forbids mopeds to do so.
There are also e-bikes with no wattage limit, nor assistance limit and they are registered as motorbikes and must follow the same rules. You don't see a lot of them.
And then there are people selling kits or showing people how to mod their e-bikes so the assistance limit is raised or eliminated similar to what most 16y old kids used to do with their mopeds in order to make them go faster,

That pinarello e-bikes news is old. I swear there has been topics or posts about it already on that very same forum like 6 months ago. I don't want one, yet who f%%%ing cares really.

With a little bit of editing, that could easily be rescripted to a Cialis commercial.

I agree. E-bikes are pathetic. Yet another tool for lazy Americans (Europeans, too?) to avoid MUCH needed exercise.

They got in trouble when they first debut'd this bike (or one like it) because the marketing tag line was, essentially::

"Hey there ladies, now you can keep up with your man, thanks to the all-new e'arello!"

    I disagree.

There is a very nice older woman who rides with a bike club in Westchester. She had a very nice custom ebike made because she does not want to hold up the group on climbs and stuff. She was bummed when the BOD of the club decided to outlaw ebikes on group rides for liability insurance reasons.

There is also a one-legged man who rides his ebike to work through Richmond Park on most mornings in London. I know this because I was so bummed when passed by a one-legged man up Bloomfield Hill in the park. (This is true even I cannot make this shit up)

So I think ebikes are great for people that want or need an ebike.

I'm starting to see lots of Ebikes on my somewhat quiet Portland commuting routs and sometimes the riders are just going way too fast. I think it's dangerous to be going 25+ on these ecargo bikes etc.. they'd better have really good brakes. I'm not sure if these new super fast cyclists are also super skilled.

Except that those are two unusual cases. We already know the types of people that will be or already are buying e-bikes in large numbers..

Also my experience here. There is a lot of people riding ebikes fast on cycle paths and it scares me.

I had so much fun bombing around on a lavender Specialized Como pedal-assist a buddy of mine has as a demo. I could imagine it being a real game-changer for first-time commuters.
The suburbs suddenly become within range to the un-fit...
