Default Does anyone have a De Rosa Neo Primato?

    If so, two questions:

    1. Does it take 27mm tires?

    2. Do you like it?

It's always been on my punch list but I have learned that I really like 25-27mm tires on my bikes and the most recent "punch-list" bike, an EMX-5 in Quick-Step colors, got sent down the river because it only barely cleared 25's...hated to see it go!

    Thanks in advance,

    JTSR

Mine is from 2001, tire clearance is a little tight. I've never run anything but 23's on it. 25's would work but a 27 would have to be really small to clear and would certainly rub with a flexy wheel. It's a great riding bike though. I need to wash mine, take some photos and list it for sale. 60cm.

I have one, a 2004 model with the steel fork. It fits 27s with ease. Anything bigger might not work with the short-reach brakes around which the frame is designed.

I love it! De Rosa's geometry really works for me, stable at all speeds, great on the descents, nice and responsive.

I have a recent production Faema Neo Primato. I usually run 25mm Rubino Pro Slicks and they fit fine (26mm on a 23mm rim). 25mm Corsa Evo CX tubs were pretty tight but cleared. 28mm Rubino Pro IIIs might have brushed the brake bridge, can't remember. Happy to drop the 28s in and take some pics if you'd like. Chainstays, seat tube and fork crown were fine, brake bridge was the limiting factor, IIRC.

About six or five years ago I was considering a de Rosa Neo Primato. Then I talked to Mike Zanconato and ordered my first Zanconato. I have not really felt the need to consider the de Rosa again, with all respect to de Rosa.

    It easily fits 28s, FWIW.

If you want a road bike that's perfect and fits fat tires and looks good, give Mike a call. You won't be sorry.

Here's the most recent pic of mine that I have. I miss it a lot as it is currently parked on another continent. I know it's not the answer to your question, but it was the answer to mine, and it was the same question.

I just put a wheel into my N-Primo. It's been hanging without wheels for a couple of years now and I was going off memory. An Ultremo on an SL23 that measured 25.5mm was about as close as I would push it. Tons of room at the seat stays and brake, but the diamond chain stays are where the clearance issue is.

About the same time as Saab several years back I was also considering a de rosa neo. Before I pulled the trigger I managed to get in touch with local low key builder in my area. This was the result. Actually was less than the de rosa.

I suggest finding a custom builder. If the wait is long pick up a surly pacer for the wait then when u get your ride it will be everything u want.

I have an original Primato. When I haven't ridden it for a while I am always surprised by how nicely it rides when I am back on it....I love De Rosas....

Ooooo nice. I've been thinking a lot about calling Pete Dreesens.
