solid opening weekend for MVdP. not nearly the display we were used to last year; I think he's not where he wants to be yet. which is maybe a good thing, if he wants to actually win Worlds again... anyway, if you can only watch one (men's) race of the two, Ronse is the one to watch.

haven't watched women's Ronse yet but wow, Meulebeke was a good one!

Found any place for a free replay of these races?

MvdP took a spill today during the Brico Cross and ended up with an ankle that looks like this:

that was pretty scary. so was seeing Vanthourenhout basically do the same thing a lap later (but without hurting himself). allegedly MVdP just has a sprained ankle, not broken. and will try to race Diegem tomorrow. we'll see...

this fact, though, is simply insane: Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel have ridden in the same race for 134 times since they were Junior. And always one of them stood on the podium ... until today.

I don't like to see all those features they put in to make the race more "attractive'. Especially the motorcross style washboards look ridiculous imo.
Van der Poel pretty unbelievable on that ankle today in SP#1. All organizers were so worried for the rest of the season losing the battle with van Aert. Hope he does not do permanent damage to it.

I agree it is pretty unbelievable to have an ankle injury that looks like that and be fine enough to win a European C1 in 24 hours... Why not take a week just to be safe?

Because one "no start" in a superprestige will cause you the series?
I agree that they are taking some risks.
Tape and a heavy -sand course decreased the impacts.

but... WVA is out for three of them already (Privacy settings). MVdP could certainly have missed one and not been stressed about losing the series. hopefully for him, it wasn't anything more serious he pushed through and made worse.

speaking of worse... gotta love Google translate. Worst won the women's race. so go to Sporza or HLN and translate articles for the women's race, it says "Dutch Sausage wins Women's race" and "Sausage beats Vos among the women." ridiculous.

I wonder why it didn't say "Sausage beats Fox"? (Worst beats Vos).
Could be interesting (women) this year.
Wonder where Thalita de Jong is.

How have you been watching the world cups this year? In the past Iíve used the TunnelBear VPN to watch them on the UCI YouTube page, but they donít seem to be uploading them this year. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

My national tv broadcasted the race but UCI gives out the link on their homepage. Here are the links from today's WC.

Yes. They typically stay available for replay until the next subscription cycle starts (just before the TdF in late June to early July).

I just go to pro cycling and see if I can get the Belgian streams to work.
I call them the "Russian porn sites" for all the initial spam involved, but explained it to my wife.
After I'm able to get all the spam gone they work decent.

I've not read anything. Except that Lotto Soudal fired its general manager for not being able to secure him (Going to Dutch Lotto Jumbo instead in '20).
Van Aert has his personal sponsors lined up.
BTW, there was worry that vdP overextended, and was unstructured with his racing schedule-and efforts this year, and not being able to perform in cross the season.
The season just began , but so far he is just dominating. Those 1 1/2 hour MTB races in the heat at full throttle might actually pay off.
I really like the way van Aert riding while being down to earth about his challenges.
