    Default Crumpton Getting Some Press

Looks like some recently disclosed efforts we saw in FNL are turning into good press for Mr. Crumpton:

"Jason says they wanted to build something that could be raced, with proven parts that didn’t sacrifice any durability for weight savings."

    This is really funny.

I'll save you the time - according to the BR peanut gallery, both bikes are ugly and will assplode by the third crank revolution...because carbon!

I would be more concerned about the aluminum cassette assploding. Definitely not a part I would associate with a bike that can be raced.

Consider that some "race" parts are for racing eg a singularity. Alum. cassettes have been around for ages and they work crappily a few times than you hang them on your parts wall for 20 years until the price goes to $300 on ebay and sell it...don't you GET IT???!!!!

I love this frame and find every piece of kit they put on it ugly. The bar and stem combo wins the ugliest of all contest, followed in second place by the fork, the seatpost takes an honorable third place.

BTW to race this thing I recommend to add pedals and cages.

You got it. Along with those Super Record titanium pedal axles and bottom bracket spindle. And for a special treat, add the CLB aluminum brake cable housing. Snap, Crackle, and Pop meet Skip, Creak, and Mush.

PS Crumptons rock, I'm a witness. If Darren's fit me he'd have been Ottavio Bottecchia'ed out near Byram Lake and left with a Merlin.

As already posted, al cassette's have been used for racing. I had a few al 7 spd cassette's (Regina?) and can report that one was used to win a TT outright. Mind you, cassette's were thicker back in the day.

Oh....CLB aluminum brake cable housing....still have some.

Anyhow, great that Nick is getting some PR.

I see you're speccing out next year's vintage division Greylock hillclimb bike already.

Takes vision, cojones, and coin to come up with a bmx rig like that. My hats off to Fair Wheel and Mr. Crumpton, the level of exoticness is off the charts.

I do have to question its durability for bmx racing? Parts spec would do my head in, how can you race 150% balls out if you are worried about a part snapping? I would have liked to of seen a more robust parts spec, (Profile cranks, any steel bar alloy stem combo, chromo fork, etc) on this bike, real world stuff that’s been proven on the track. I do believe that frame can handle the rigors of racing but some of those parts give me the heebee jeebees.

Personally I have always fantasized about a custom madeTi bmx frame, (cruzer these days) something I can fool around at the track and sk8 park with. I can live with a dent in my Ti frame from smacking something but if I cracked that carbon Crumpton……………….crying just thinking about it.

@BDordewisch, the bar is made by Bombshell, stem is Enve, wrapped together by Calfee Design.
Steel Bamboo Aluminum Wood Titanium Magnesium ETC

(Pick your poison, ride it like a stuck pig!!!)

I would have thought it was literally impossible.
Because you can't to do anything with more than 100% effort.

    :)

According to the dictionary, ‚Äúliterally‚ÄĚ now also means ‚Äúfiguratively‚ÄĚ - Salon.com

Why do people feel the need to list all of their bikes in their signature?
