Default Clif vs. Kind energy bar smackdown

Salty: Clif and Kind bar feud: There is a clear winner

Yeah, the Kind dark chocolate, nuts, and sea salt bar is amazing. But not after five minutes in a jersey pocket.

    Clif Bars rule.

Let's science this. If you do the math a PayDay candybar will crush your Cliffbar / Kind bar and leave a tip.

I've had both. No contest - Clif bars are better.

I don’t understand how you guys can be so “right” about so many things like tire choice, coffee roasting, chain lube, engineering, motorcycles, bathroom tile.............and get this wrong.

Kind bars for the win always.

I can't believe that I fell for the click bait again. But I did. And now I regret it. Just say no.

I haven't had a clif in ages; maybe will have to try again. kind are ok. nature valley granola for the win, though, always. I never carry food with me on rides, don't go long enough and have plenty stored around my body, unfortunately....

Of the expensive trash food, Lara bars and Luna bars both beat them. But it's Fig Newtons FTW.

Apparently everyone has an handlebar bag these days. Just throw a nut & dried fruits mix inside and use it as a bowl.

Until you have eaten a Lucho Dillitos on the bike, you haven't lived.

It comes wrapped in a banana leaf so you can throw it away.

Save money and packaging waste. I haven't touched a packaged bar in years and my rides have only gotten longer. 265km last Saturday with some homemade cookies in a beeswax wrap, a banana, and a cotton bag full of fruit from our dehydrator. The amount of gel and bar wrappers I see littering the national parks here makes me want to jump into the sea..

One of these days science will create a "power bar" that is superior to a Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pie...

I prefer to make my own snacks. I start with a crusty French bread, but cut the crusty part off because of my soft gums. I cut the bread into two inch squares. Then I spread some Brie on each slice of bread followed by a smear of raspberry jam. Before the two halves are united, I slip a sliver of ham between them. I'll make a dozen that are contained nicely in my musette for my two kilometer ride to the café. For very, very long days in the saddle of an hour or so, I'll fill the musette to the hilt. It can be a bit unpleasant to endure the hardship of the musette strap plowing a furrow into my shoulder, but mostly because I also have my spare tub wrapped around my shoulder. Ah, the existential moments that we endure while turning the pedals.

Ice cream sandwiches are my secret weapon. Obviously they're not so great in a jersey pocket so you have to consume them where you find them but they just plain work.

That's a lot of sugar in there, coach.

Isn't sugar the whole point when you're mid-ride?

Perhaps, but the LD Raisin Creme Pies taste better IMHO! For those who like fig bars, try the Aldi ones for $0.99. Geez, for $10 you could feed a whole peloton! =D

Especially in the convenience store size box, enough to share around at a stop.

Along with a Kurt Kombo, a V8 juice (470g potassium, 640g sodium) followed by a Mountain Dew. sugar/caffeine

When I lived in South Carolina, we were sponsored by powerbar but on the weekend long rides, a Moon Pie and a Coke were the go-to's. In Sardinia, a mid ride macchiato and scone. On the 1997 STP where it was low 50's with constant rain, a Circle K heat lamp cheeseburger and a Dr Pepper.

The peanut butter banana Clif bars are really good.

Kind bars are way better than anything I've had marketed towards athletes. The variety of non-chocolate ones means they're great to carry on the bike.

But really we all know that the very best mid-ride energy booster from a store is a Snickers bar and an ice cold can of Coke.

A regular sized Snickers. Not a king size, that's too much.

And a regular 12oz can of Coke, not a 20oz bottle as that's too much and will upset your tummy.

And don't even think about anything else besides good ol' regular Coke. Not Cherry Coke, not Vanilla Coke, and certainly not any of that low calorie nonsense.

The very best food I've ever had on my bike was at a 13hr MTB race. I was on a 3 man team. I finished a lap right before sundown, we got the other guy out onto the course, and before I even got all the way off the bike the other teammate put a hamburger in my hand. Patty was fresh off the grill, and it had pimento cheese on it.

    Best burger I've ever had.
