Default Bar choice of another kind - beer

I've developed the habit of passing the final hours of the work week by enjoying a few cold ones in my office. For this, I blame V-Salon.

About to break into some of this. Big fan of their Hop Devil, but haven't had the Pils in a while, so I figure I'd give it a go.

I have a few Mirror Pond Pale Ales left from last weekend and a case of Primo to demolish over the weekend.

That Mirror Pond is good stuff. I drank a few gallons of it while out in WA/OR last month. Need to look around and see if it gets distributed in the NYC metro-region.

If you can get Dogfish Head 90, dont even mess with Mirror Pond. It is good, but not as good as DFH. The Mendocino "Hawk" IPAs are also better than the Mirror Pond. Look for those - theres some asskick in a bottle.

Agreed. I sometimes drink it from their tap in Rehobeth. Next time you're out east you should swing by.

I like getting local flavor wherever I go.

Mendocino anything rocks. One of those breweries that just has it dialed in.

Don't forget Stone IPA, and their other assorted offerings.

Weird that you can't get Dale's in pdx- its been all over the DC area for over a year. Maybe your own local plethora of microbrews is a barrier to entry?

On my way home to NJ- going to see an old buddy and meet his new kid- will be drinking whatever looks good at the liquor store.

The DFH tap must be the only thing happening in Rehoboth. High alc contet keeps the populace sedated and quiet, let the barabrians in Ocean City drink the swill. I tried all 3 flavors while in DC a short time ago. The 120 and 90 are top notch. I wasnt as wild about the 60, but it didnt suck either.

    Default IPA's

Dogfish Head 90 minute is the best IPA on the planet (fact not opinion) but the 60 minute is a standard IPA. In the world of standard good hop IPA I need to give the local guy the A+:

You're trying to bait us, I can tell, but I will not be drawn. I will agree with you on the Pikeland Pils, though. Very good stuff.

Spaten Oktoberfest just hit the shelves here, and I'm getting into it while the getting's good.

    Agreed.

I was down at Dogfish last week and they had a "black IPA" on the bar tap. Looked like a stout. It tasted like the 90min mixed with a nice stout. Which sounds kinda weird, but worked really well. I tried to get some out of there, but they won't sell the small batches for take out.

Oh well. Hope they make more.

I did get out of there with a whole case of Palo Santo....that is some good stuff.

    there's a thread right there....do doubles count?

had a Clipper City Heavy Seas DIPA bomber recently and it was great. the Southern Tier Imperial IPA is a definite favorite. Moylan's Moylander DIPA is awesome, too.

having a smuttynose brown dog from the sampler pack right now. it's fine. the Robust Porter was great
