    Default anthony maietta atmo -

Tony sent me this and I found it in my inbox after a day of travel home from NAHBS.
I think he is a man's man for reconciling the situation, and I wish him the very best.

You know, when life kicks you in the balls you either grow a bigger pair or shrink. Props to Tony for taking the preferred fork in the road.

Reading that statement tells all that AM will go far in life, regardless of what he decides to do.

super good on you Tony. you not only build gorgeous bikes, you also know your stuff when it comes to expressing important sh*t via the written word. incredibly clear statement of goals and values; a seemingly rare quality these days. good luck to you.

Good for him, decisions are hard to make sometimes but are always worth making. Hopefully Tony will come back here now and join in again.

That's a shame. He obviously loved making frames and it showed in his product. I hope someday he returns, when the time is right.

    Well played sir.

Tony is a mensche and I hope he stays involved with the effbuilding community. Just because he is laying down the torch does not mean he is without relevance.

I'm happy for Tony and wish him all the best.

Mom: He was very sickly until he started riding around on that bicycle.

Dad: Yeah... well... now his body's fine, but his mind is gone.

This is very good to read.

I know from whence Tony speaks. I too let "opportunities" create too much work and not enough family/wife time. The work will always be there, the family might not. I really respect what he is doing. It can seem hard to cut back on something that he obviously loves, but looking at the trade-off makes it an easy choice. I am grateful that my wife is hanging in there while I extract myself from overcommitment to work. My best wishes to Tony in his future. My guess is that somewhere down the line, he may find time to build frames again in such a way that it all fits together.

I'm sure it was hard making that decision, but maybe even harder to share the story with the community.

Hats off to Tony for making a tough choice. I'm sure his life, wife and career will all benefit.

Nothing wrong with being a hobby builder too, so keep the torch a few files, okay?
