    Have:

    * Landshark
    * Masi
    * Richard Sachs (2, one 1978-ish, one mid-90s)
    * JP Weigle Special (2, both early 1980s built for good friends)

    Wanted back in the day:

    De Rosa
    Pogliaghi
    Cinelli
    Jim Redcay
    Tom Kellogg (track)

    The LandShark is one heck of a good circuit race bike and is about 10 years old now. I won't chase the "wanted" list at this point except if I come across the right Kellogg / Spectrum track bike by accident.

    If anyone is yearning for a Basso Gap Miami in 56cm call me...

    For me for sentimental reasons a :
    Gazelle Champion Mondial Columbus Max
    and a RIH from this gentlemans hands:
    In 1948 Wim van der Kaaij joined the RIH business as an apprentice, he is the the sole owner and still builds frames, while already over 70 years of age. (RIP 2014)"
    "It is estimated that RIH frames have been ridden to over 350 national championships in both road and track events and 63 World and Olympic titles."

    [QUOTE=Kupepe;714762]Well people as we all know are wealthy and got a spare room where we can put eight steel road bikes. Which ones would you have?..QUOTE]

    Say, my son is working on his 3rd steel bike now. He has become a pretty fast racer!
    He has never owned a commercially made road bike.
    The only bikes he has ever had were made by me and him.

    So, the best 8 bikes are 8 bikes you've made yourself!

    I've got the Nobilette GT's because I lusted for one back in the 90's. They ride just as awesome as they look. When I got the Shaklee one painted by Dave Cheakas last year, he went on and on about how nice the fillet brazed joints were.

    This thread needs more criteria to be selective, or maybe the point is in just seeing what people come up with. Guess I'd go fairly current, and custom, and US builders. These are road bikes, not stinking CX bikes, too:

    Hampsten Gran Paradiso
    Zanconato
    Speedvagen
    Peg Marcelo (yeah, not US...)
    Della Santa
    Kirk
    Serotta CSI
    Spectrum

    and a Merckx MX Leader or Corsa Extra.

    I was thinking in traditional race bike terms, a randonneuring list of 8 would include those two at the top.

    Collecting stuff is stupid. I don't think I am that stupid.

    Even counting track/road fixed gear/CX/rain and MTB usage I wouldn't need that many bikes and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be all in steel.

    The only steel bike I have left is my signature RS. Keeping it too. But somehow lately I am thinking of getting another Peg. It must be the fact I sold mine and I keep starring at Paul's ride report. If I was to get another one I would go for the respo. Marcelo was too much bike for me.

    I'm lucky enough to not ride only road bikes, or to race only.
    Who could ever say that steel isn't good for mountain bikes?

    In no particular order:

    - Cinelli Super Corsa
    - IF Crown Jewel (own)
    - Jaegher Ascender
    - Colnago Master (own a PR99, but probably would have got a PRMO Molteni if I could find one)
    - Moulton Double Python (is that allowed?)
    - Mercian King of Mercian (for the Eroica)
    - Cherubim Piuma
    - Milani Acciaio Puro

    Another day and the wish list might be a different eight.

    9 tubes.
    I had a Serotta Nove, which took its name from the 9 tubes.

    It was steel-free, btw.
    GO!
