I feel like Sagan is someone who races his way into shape, and the more racing he does the faster he gets...or maybe everyone else gets tired and he doesn't. Regardless, he didn't race much this year, and it took the edge off. He was still the second or third fastest guy in the world, but he didn't have his top end. I bet he comes back and slays it once things get back to normal.

Or he quits and enjoys his millions.

    I'd say WvA as well.

Or a Mads Pedersen repeat. This guy killed himself in the climbs during TDF for Porte yet was still able to challenge the best sprinters in the worlds in the Champs Elysées. Actually I'd like the idea of seeing Mads Pedersen one year more as he was a bit robbed the chance to show his jersey this year by the Covid and he seems like a genuinly great and professionnal person. I am pretty sure he could have won a number of stages or fought for a green jersey had he got the liberty to go in the breaks like Soren Kragh Andersen or Marc Hirshi.

Hirschi won the very hilly U23 road race at worlds in Innsbruck, Austria in 2018. His form is good and he's going to be a marked man.

I'm going to go Tom Pidcock for no reason whatsoever as I know nothing about his season.

Mads isn't racing. Says the course is too hard for him.

Pidcock just won the Baby Giro taking two stages and the KOM jersey along the way.

I think Pidcock won three stages, 4,7 and 8.

    Damn!

Chloe Dygert crashes out of time trial at Imola World Championships | Cycling News

Chloe Dygert (USA) crashed during the elite women's time trial at the UCI Road World Championships on Thursday. She did not finish the race after seeming to lose control on a descent, hitting a barrier and going down the grass verge on the other side.

Dygert was treated by race medical staff in an ambulance and then air lifted to the hospital in Bologna. She was confirmed to be conscious, however, the extent of her injuries have not been confirmed.

"Dygert was on track to win her second ITT World Championship, but has abandoned the race after her crash over the guard rail. All we know is that she is conscious and talking. More updates to come," confirmed USA Cycling.

Why the hell did she tried to take that corner in the aero extensions...what a stupid idea. I hope it is not too bad.

Did she roll a tubular? Broke a spoke? Some of the suggestions made?
Did not see the video yet.
If I was her coach I would have told her to go out 98% anyway, since that is enough for gold .

Nasty crash. The UCI really had the protective barriers in the wrong spot.

That is tough to watch. Guard rails are just not made with cyclists in mind. Looked like the bike stood up after slipping and then she couldn't do much to correct. Miguel Angel Lopez, Teisj Benoot, Marc Hirschi can all identify.

Really hope she is alright. After Wout van Aert's botched surgery, I have this sense that there are different levels of proficiency when it comes to repair, both in terms of the skills of the surgeon and response to the needs of a pro athlete competing at the highest level versus the average person who just needs to get up and down stairs. Hopefully Tygart will get stitched up correctly, heal well and can start rebuilding for the Olympics next year (assuming they happen.)

I just watched a great Men's World Time Trial Championship. No crashes as far as I know (although Dumoulin mis-judged a corner). Ganna had a great win, which was not unexpected after Tirreno Adriatico. Wout van Art was second and Küng third. Geraint Thomas, with fourth place, seems to be coming in to form for the Giro (which contains 3 time trials) beating his team mate and defending World Champion Rohan Dennis into fifth.

I so agree with the call to get rid of time trial bikes and just apply the road bike rules to the ITT.
This is a sport, not a constructors - or bike manufacturers championship.

And not enough of them. I don't understand why you would only safeguard part of the corner. As I read elsewhere, they should talk to the FIS about how to provide safety on fast corners.
