Nibbles will reach a little deeper into the corners of his tacklebox.
Zeus will once again settle comfortably into his LazyBoy.
Sisyphus will continue his fettish with a rock.
And Slovenia will once again stumble over the brim of the abyss.

I like Roglic to win it.

I'll follow that up with a scenario. Nibali pushes too hard going for first or bust, Carapaz cracks around the time Landa attacks, and Roglic gets close enough tomorrow to win the pink jersey in the time trial Sunday.

I think that last moment of Friday's stage where Roglic attacked and Carapaz and Nibali had to jump quickly pretty much showed the latter two that Roglic wasn't dead and still has some pop in his legs. So I doubt anyone is going to do anything. It is all about the final time trial and preserving placements. Nibali will go all out on the TT and hope that Carapaz has a horrible day and Roglic doesn't get enough to skip over him in the GC.

Yeah he looked like the pink jersey fit him pretty well.

Didn't turn out how I expected but what do I know really. They neither waited and guarded podium position nor went for broke with a breakaway. Sort of a little of both. But it did increase the tension for tomorrow's time trial. Here's the top 13 to include Carthy and Dombrowski. Seems like the podium is set given the time differences and the length of the time trial (can you loose over 1:50 in a 15.6km time trial?) but stranger things have happened. Landa appears the most at risk for losing a place if Roglic does well and Landa's earlier time trial performance was a benchmark.

Lopez should have gotten most combative after bitch slapping that drunk guy who fell on him while trying to run uphill. Nice that the commissaires did not fine or penalize him. I haven't heard anything on the extended push that Roglic received from two fans. Would they penalize Roglic for that?

    General classification after stage 20

1 Richard Carapaz (Ecu) Movistar Team 89:38:28
    2 Vincenzo Nibali (Ita) Bahrain-Merida 0:01:54
3 Mikel Landa (Spa) Movistar Team 0:02:53
    4 Primoz Roglic (Slo) Team Jumbo-Visma 0:03:16
    5 Bauke Mollema (Ned) Trek-Segafredo 0:05:51
6 Miguel Angel Lopez (Col) Astana Pro Team 0:07:18
    7 Rafal Majka (Pol) Bora-Hansgrohe 0:07:28
    8 Simon Yates (GBr) Mitchelton-Scott 0:08:01
9 Pavel Sivakov (Rus) Team Ineos 0:09:11
    10 Ilnur Zakarin (Rus) Katusha-Alpecin 0:12:50
11 Hugh John Carthy (GBr) EF Education First 0:15:57

Roglic got penalized 10 seconds for the two pushes from fans.

Fans weren't his fault but wonder if Addy Engels will be DS at Jumbo-Visma next year.

I doubt Landa will keep is third place. He is really bad at time trialing. He would need the kind of performance you only do when you are wearing the leader's jersey.

Was hoping for Roglic, but how great is it to have a grand tour winner from Ecuador?

Just wonder what he did wrong, except an unhappy planned break that he owned up to.
Their climbers are selected for the Tour- injured home with fractures- or did not have the legs ,or were too young to support the team.

Roglic had a great ride as a virtually unsupported rider. With a real team he'd have won it hands down. Oh well...

Super impressive to take a TT at a grand tour- knocking out a real specialist as well.

Yeah, I don't know either, but there was criticism for how lightly he dealt with things during a high stakes contest. He should have stuck with Roglic like glue, peed in a bottle, not given interviews where he said the jersey is pretty much out of reach with three stages left, etc. His riders seem to like him though so perhaps that will count more but usually sponsors have the last word. I don't know but seems like his only problem is to be a DS on a team that has rarely had a GC threat and suddenly they have a GC threat.

That's quite a trophy for Haga. They said on Eurosport he and the team had been preparing for this stage after Dumoulin had to step off, but Haga might see the start as being the day the car crashed into the Giant-Alpecin team. Well done.

Not so sure. He would have definitely be more on par with Nibali in the general classification but that doesn't mean he would have had the horsepower to follow Carapaz when he attacked and avoid losing a few seconds there and there before the last ITT.

Carapaz lost several minutes before they were given back to him by the Nibali-Rogliz deal. btw ; they still did not shake hands on the podium I read. Don't know what the protocol is; (who takes the initiative ).

Haga loves those Giro TTs -- Sunweb gives him the green light and he stomps it. Then back to that domestique life....

It's a shame he didn't get to Europe earlier -- he's got a little Yates in him, and might have been a good one for the cobbles.

Yates The Elder just to clarify. The kids reading this will assume you are referencing Yates The Saplings.

I don’t know the average age of the readers here but I suspect it’s much closer to the Elder Yates than the Saplings. Not a lot of kids here methinks.

Seems like yesterday that he was leading the Tour on his home soil but it was 25+ years ago now.

Campenaerts stated "I knew he was on to something""Being in the autobus every stage , but being a good climber".
