First 'real' ride today. Solid. This is definitely a cross between my Serotta CIII and the Look 381 in terms of ride and handling. They are both exceptional bikes in my fleet and I really like both of them and how they ride. My order to Mike was for a race bike with these qualities. He has nailed it.

This bike is stiffer than my Look in torsion, or seems to be. It may not be as stiff as the CIII but that's not a negative. Very, very smooth riding over bumps. Equal to the Serotta CIII, which is also exceptionally smooth.

This bike is a direct replacement for my old Serotta CSI, and this bike kills it. Nothing against the CSI (which admittedly had suffered an accident at some point in its life and was not all that well repaired) but it was heavy and kinda dead feeling compared to the Zanconato. And it had some kind of speed wobble. This Zank has none of that.

This bike gives up nothing to my more 'modern' looking welded steel and carbon bikes, even though it is more classic looking. I don't know the weight, but I am guessing it's about 18 lbs as pictured.

I'm getting very tempted to send in another deposit for a cyclocross bike. And I like the colors on this one. My current road Zank got exercised today and f*ckin' A is that thing smooth riding and satisfying to ride.

I gotta figure out what to get rid of first...

    Default More Zanc CX Goodness

Weather has not been ideal for taking good shots so these will have to do for now. Besides, the bike is now dirty and getting ridden. "Pretty pics" may have to wait. Quick initial build, bar/saddle/stem change to come (anyone have a 3T ergonova pro 40 and matching stem?). Top brake levers will go away then too.

The important stuff: This thing corners like it's on rails. Sweetness on the CX course. It delivers, is responsive, no surprises. Love it.

Thanks much. That bike is one incredible ride. Handling and balance are spot on.

It sure treated me right this weekend.
While it's a couple pounds heavier than it's CX stablemate, I only notice it when it's barrier time. That's more an issue of my lack of recovery yet. It is NOT holding me back.

Aiming to have more of my arm strength back by next CX season so hopefully I won't even notice that. The thing carves turns, loves off-camber slopes and is ready for whatever I can toss at it.
